Banfield Pet Hospital has proven to be an extraordinarily disappointing and deeply unprofessional organization. In all my years of dealing with corporate veterinary chains, I have never encountered one so transparently driven by profit at the expense of integrity. Their relentless upselling is not subtle; it is systematic. During what should have been a routine visit for a minor concern, I was abruptly informed that my dog was “infested” with fleas — a claim that immediately raised suspicion, given that she has received monthly grooming and inspections from the same trusted groomer for nine consecutive years. Nevertheless, the attending veterinarian launched into an aggressive sales pitch for their “proven” prescription flea treatments. Against my better judgment, I accepted their recommendations. By the time I left, they had extracted more than $400 from me. The following day, I took my dog to her groomer and requested a thorough inspection. She did not have a single flea. Not one. The contrast between Banfield’s alarming diagnosis and the groomer’s findings was infuriating. The issues extend far beyond questionable medical claims. Their staff is consistently discourteous. For years, I have used the Banfield online portal to schedule appointments well in advance. Yet on the day of nearly every appointment, I receive a call from an older staff member informing me that the doctor is suddenly unavailable — often accompanied by argumentative behavior when I question the pattern. It is unprofessional and unacceptable. The most recent incident was the final breaking point. After being explicitly instructed to bring my dog in for her monthly treatment, Banfield waited until we arrived to arbitrarily change the terms of the appointment yet again. At that moment, we chose to walk out. I am now actively seeking a new veterinarian. I had believed, perhaps naively, that years of loyalty had built some form of rapport with Banfield. It is clear that no such relationship existed. Their concern is not for the well‑being of your pet, but for the contents of your bank account. The experience has been disgraceful from start to finish.

The women at the front desk who answer the phones are extremely rude and rush you off the phone. I just called today to follow up on a message I had sent to the Vet 2 days prior and have yet to hear anything back. The woman's response was that the Vet was still in surgery.. hmmm for 2 whole days that sure is a long surgery. Just because my pet isn't physically in office doesn't give you the right to rush people off the phone. We pay for the OWP and we deserve to be treated the same as in person clients. Probably going to be looking to take my pets elsewhere if this is how you continue to treat people.
