Not a real vet. Why pay more than a real vet, only to be extremely disappointed? They focus efforts on upselling customers and less effort on the quality of care... but again, they're not a real vet.
Paid almost $500 for overpaid services for my two puppies at Vetco, including 3 rounds of vaccinations. For the fecal test, they handed me a bag, a cotton swab, and a self addressed envelope. I took them to my actual vet, where they charged less and actually performed the test themselves.
I had an appointment for the 2nd round of vaccinations. Left without the vaccinations after waiting in line for about 30 minutes... along with all the other people bamboozled into thinking Vetco is an actual vet. Rescheduled the appointment for the following month.
Took the pups to their 2nd round of vaccinations. They claimed that my 2nd round vaccination expired and I had to pay $190.
It turns out that when I purchased the 3 vaccinations, I actually purchased an actual vaccination, and didn't just pay for it, which is how a real vet operates. I explained that the salesperson told me it was good for a year, which actually happened. The salesperson denied it. My wife was also there and remembers the same conversation.
Further, I had to pay $120 for other shots, which were covered in the 3rd round because they refused to give me the 3rd round shots until I had the second round. I needed this to drop the dogs off at dog boarding.
Called my vet after the experience to ask about purchasing the first year vaccinations in advance. They said charging again for an expired vaccination is absurd. They, like every other reputable vet, charges people for vaccinations. They pull from stock at the time when vaccination services are rendered.
I still have to pay for the 2nd round vaccinations, which they were all too eager to upsell me along with the vaccinations needed to be ready for day boarding. I paid the $120 for the necessary vaccinations to be eligible for boarding and did not pay the additional $190 for the 2nd round of vaccinations.
Petco is great for overpriced junk for pets. However, Vetco is a scam. They appear to be defrauding the American people with their scam by tricking people into thinking they provide legit vet services. They charge more than a real vet but after the purchase, some customers discover they are not a vet.
Buyer Beware.
