I INSIST IN THAT PETCO HAS NOT TAKE ANY ACTION CONTACTING ME AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND MY SERVICE DOG ON TRAINING.
I write this edit in capital letters to get attention not in aggressive maner, just to get the attention of Petco. They said that "Your Petco Case #13557427" was going to be escalated to District Manager. Almost a month later I have not hear from them.
I just want to file a formal complaint about the manager Gill at the store located in: 18785 S I 19 Frontage Rd Ste 125, Green Valley, Az 85614.
We are loyal customers of our local Petco in Green Valley, as a matter of fact we took 2 trainings with Brittany (Britt) back in 2024, we purchased a full package of trainings, but they didn't have trainer for the third class, so we got our money reimbursed.
Helga, our 2 year old dog, continued her training at Petsmart across the street completing 2 more courses, unfortunately the trainer moved to Virginia last year.
On December last year, Helga was accepted and is currently in training at Ability Dogs, a service dog training non profit organization. And as a part of her training program We need to take her to different public places, we had being successfully trained her in Walmart, Marshall's, where managers were so friendly, Today it was the turn to a pet store as part of my routines when I go shopping.
Unfortunately, after 30 minutes, (12:37 pm) the manager Gill, approached, asked me if I need help for anything, I said no thank you that we are OK, she insisted and I told her again, that we were good, then she asked: "Are you training your dog?" I said: yes. "In that case I will need to ask you to stop and leave the store", she said.
I asked: why? She said: "if something happens with another customer, they will come after us".
I wanted to do the clarification that the store was empty, no customers were around. And that I was With a professional trainer of Ability Dogs, who was giving us instructions. I am a person with Diabetes and half deaf. I never got the opportunity to explain my condition and why we were training my dog.
I told the Manager that: "In that case, you have loose a customer and I am going to report you, what is your name?" She didn't have tag, " my name is Gill and I am the manager of the store", she responded.
She didn't give us the opportunity to explain that Helga is a well behaved dog and that she is in training for being my diabetes and hearing loss service dog.
We left the store really upset, because she didn't let us explain what type of training was Helga and me having and basically threw us out the store.
The unfriendly attitude of that manager was against my right as a ADA disability person of the official disabilities list: "Deafness and Diabetes". That was against me and my dog.
We understand what the manager told us, but why when we were on training at Petco and Petsmart as a part of training, instructors asked us to go and walk the dogs with leashes on the aisles of the store as part of the training? Helga was with leash all the time and she behaves, she doesn't bark or try to get anything from your shelves or attack people or another dog.
I am so disappointed that Petco does not support training for service dogs for American Disabilities.
Again, they have lost a good customer, I am making sure to report the store and the manager in a review. I give them one star, because I can't give them no stars. I am so disappointed and never will come back to Petco.
I sent email to corporate offices they told me they will escalate the issue to district manager, that was 2 weeks ago, still no response. About this review I was contacted and they give me a phone number to call. I dont know who I will call. I really don't want to call a customer services representative, prefer the authority to contact me. But I don't receive a call by District Manager in two more weeks I will have to contact them again.
