We gave petco grooming multiple chances and unfortunately this last situation is the final straw for us. We have had many issues in the past with groomers missing appointments, however after new management took over they gave us a free grooming session and assured us this issue was resolved and so far it had been ok, until this Sunday.
We had a 0745 appointment and I was ill but I arranged a family member to take in my dog instead of canceling. He showed up early and waited outside past the appointment start time (he contacted me concerned no one had come out yet). Someone eventually came to the door and informed him that the groomer had not showed up for work. They encouraged him to wait a little longer while they tried to contact the groomer. He was there for a half hour and had to bang on the doors to get someone to come out and give him an update. They were unable to provide any insight and thus he left.
I called with the intention to leave a message, however an associate answered and I asked to have a Manger call me once they got in (as mentioned this was not the first time), they stated one was available now, which was surprised because my family member said the response he got was very unprofessional and unorganized. Upon the manger answering the phone I could immediately tell he was annoyed with my call. He was unprofessional and honestly rude to the point I actually expressed that. He did not offer an apology or any solution. He did now know when the next groomer was coming in or if my appointment could be rescheduled. Upon explaining that the previous incident I was given a free session, his reply was "do you want me to lose my job?" I was completely taken back. He stated he would have someone call me but did not confirm my contact information until I asked him too, which he did give the wrong number.
It has been multiple days and no one has contacted me. I assume he didn't pass it along because he knew this interaction did not go well. I finally today received a text message only stating to reschedule. Needless to say we have already found a new groomer and will never be returning to petco. This is your warning to go find a ma and pa shop instead, as I have way to many chances and regret it.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Petco Grooming today and will never be returning.
I brought in my two dogs (a Shih Tzu and a Goldendoodle) for a scheduled grooming appointment, and from the moment we walked in, the groomer, Madison, had a negative and rude attitude. Instead of asking what I wanted done, she immediately told me my Shih Tzu “needed” to be shaved down with a 10 blade because he was matted — which is simply not true. He has never been matted, has never had irritated or bruised skin, and is regularly groomed.
She then began pointing out that his nails were “long and curved” and needed to be buffed when they were not overgrown at all. It felt like she was trying to upsell unnecessary services before even discussing my preferences.
The situation escalated when I told her I wanted him cut with a 5 or 7 blade instead of a 10. She continued insisting he was matted and said she’s had years of experience, then came around the front counter with a metal comb to “prove it.” She aggressively tried to force the comb through the curls on his paws and dug it into his chest to make a point, which clearly hurt him. She then claimed he was trying to bite her — which is completely out of character for him, as he has never bitten anyone in his life.
At that point, I decided I was not comfortable leaving my dogs in her care and left immediately.
I ended up taking him to Diamonds in the Ruff down the street, and the difference was night and day. They were kind, professional, asked what I wanted done, and handled him gently. He was calm the entire time and didn’t shake at all — which says everything. When I picked him up, they told me he did great, and the grooming looked amazing.
This was a completely unprofessional and uncomfortable experience at Petco. I would not trust Madison with my pets.
I had a very disturbing experience at Petco Grooming. The groomer, I believe her name was Madison (blue hair), was extremely rude, hostile, and visibly angry from the moment we started speaking.
She repeatedly pushed add-on services and would not take no for an answer. When I calmly said we just wanted the standard grooming and bath, she snapped back, “I’ve been doing this a LONG TIME, don’t argue with me, I know what I’m talking about.” The tone was aggressive and completely unprofessional.
What really crossed the line was how she handled my girlfriend’s dog right in front of us. She aggressively combed him to try to prove he was matted, even though he wasn’t. It genuinely looked like she purposely hurt him just to make her point. She was also handling him roughly when “showing” his nails, jerking his paw around in a way that felt unnecessary and forceful. It did not feel like normal grooming handling. It felt angry and intentional.
Watching someone treat our dog that way was upsetting and made us extremely uncomfortable. When you leave your pet somewhere, you need to feel confident they’re in calm, caring hands. That was not the energy we experienced at all.
I did speak with David, the GM, afterward. He seemed genuine and concerned, which I appreciated. Hopefully they take this situation seriously and address it.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend bringing your pet here.

Great store. The staff were extremely helpful and oh so patient. They answered almost lf our questions and when they didnt have an answer they found one. They were so friendly and informative. Thank you for the great experience sorry Nox was a bit ramey.
Condescending staff. I thought it might have just been me, but I brought my husband on a recent visit and he noticed it immediately — unprompted. We were both spoken to like children. If customers need help, they’ll ask.
