We went here because we got a discount from the Humane Society. Staff was friendly and the vets seem knowledgeable, but they don't do the exam in the same room as you (for cats, not sure about dogs.) They came in, asked the usual questions, then took my kitties to the back for the routine exam. Afterwards, they came back and asked if I had any questions. I've never experienced that at any veterinary office. Not a fan.

I think my experience with VCA of West Seattle was overall very good despite the annual exam being so short and not very thorough. I don’t feel comfortable with them taking the dog away while doing vaccines and blood draw, I was used to having it all done in-front of me at Renton West when we used to live in Renton. All the techs are super friendly and the receptionist was also Very friendly and greeted us upon check in. The doctor pointed out something that wasn’t noticed by me and followed up with me via a phone call. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the outrageous price for the annual exam(I think that the first time we were there last year it was around $70 but we had a free first annual exam as new patients). We paid $120 for an annual exam that was considerably very quick, the doctor checked his eyes, teeth and heartbeat but no temp taken, and I did not see any exam of the body as far as checking for wounds, checking paws and checking for fleas. The annual exam took somewhere between 10 to 15 minutes. Probably closer to 10. Thumbs up for having a same day appointment which iykyk, it never happens.

TL;DR: Good for routine vaccines, but I would not recommend VCA for illness, routine checkups, or ongoing health issues. We have been bringing our three cats to this VCA since 2022. Overall, we had generally positive experiences for the first couple of years, which is why we continued coming back. The staff and veterinarians are consistently friendly, kind, and easy to talk to. The clinic also runs a very streamlined system. I like the appointment reminders and the ability to communicate via text, which makes visits convenient and smooth. However, in our experience, the level of care has not matched the high pricing, especially more recently. For example, one of our cats has been urinating around the house. We have brought her in three separate times for this issue, but so far we have not received effective treatment despite spending over $1,000 out of pocket. We have had similar experiences with other health concerns involving our cats over the past few years. More importantly, the administrative side recently has also been disappointing. VCA made billing mistakes on two of our invoices by coding the visits as wellness exams instead of medical visits. Because of this, our pet insurance will not reimburse a significant portion of the cost, leaving us to pay about $250 out of pocket. I contacted the clinic multiple times by phone and text to request a correction. The only response I received was that they “unfortunately could not change it,” and after that my calls and messages were not returned. That was very disappointing. To be fair, if you live nearby and only need routine vaccines, VCA may still be a convenient option. Vaccine pricing tends to be fairly similar across veterinary clinics, and their scheduling and reminder system works well. The larger price differences usually come from consultation and exam fees, which at VCA are quite high. In our experience, the level of care did not justify those costs. This review reflects our experience with three cats only. We cannot speak to the level of care for dogs, though our experience across multiple visits gives us some perspective on how the clinic operates. If you value convenience and friendly staff and are comfortable paying higher prices, VCA may work for you. But if you are looking for stronger medical care or better value, you may want to explore other veterinary options. We are currently looking for a new vet and will update this review if we find one we recommend. (Including 3 screenshots of our recent invoice breakdown for you to get an idea on the pricing, hope that’s helpful)

I think they are good, really nice people but the puppy care plan is too much money. For one year I put out $1,630.80. Thats a lot more than fixing shots and other appointments. I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Just pay for the fixing visits and shots. The puppy care program is $135.90 a month. In this economy dont do it! They treat my puppy great. That puppy care price is outrageous!

I had a very mixed experience at VCA West Seattle. The veterinarian was kind, but the overall visit was extremely stressful and unprofessional. A staff member spoke to me in a condescending manner about not having a “proper” pet carrier and insisted my cat needed to be restrained, even though she was already safely secured in a pet pouch with a clip. My cat was not in danger at any point. I was then repeatedly asked to provide pet records, which I had already attempted to send. I was never given an email address, and the text system they used did not allow attachments, all while I was at work. The technician spoke very loudly throughout the interaction, which significantly heightened my anxiety. I felt talked down to and dismissed. When I calmly stated that some of what was being said was not accurate, the manager entered and told me I was being rude instead of addressing the behavior of the staff member. After leaving the room, the technician rolled her eyes in a mocking manner to colleagues outside the glass door, which was clearly visible to me. This felt unnecessary, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I am a loving and responsible pet owner who is new to the city and simply looking for a safe, respectful place to bring my pets. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel judged and unwelcome.
