Was looking for the most affordable option for flea prevention/care for my cat. In my case I came in during a promotion and had a free exam and first dose of flea meds free. The future doses will also be an affordable cost. Other places in the area were quoting me a total of $300 without insurance. Not only that but the team was very kind and knowledgeable and took care of my cat well. Will consider coming back again for any future issues. Thank you!

I’ve been taking my dog to VCA Silverlake for about six years, since I adopted him from the pound. He’s my first dog, a chihuahua with trauma, and he has always required a muzzle during visits. I’ve consistently brought him in for annual exams and nail trims and trusted that his health was being appropriately monitored.
At 7 years old, I recently noticed he is missing multiple teeth and has others that are loose. After researching on my own, I learned that his breed is highly prone to periodontal disease, something that was never emphasized or clearly flagged during routine visits.
When I raised concerns at my visit today where he was diagnosed with Advanced Periodontal Disease and a possibly related heart murmur, the vet told me they “didn’t catch it because he wouldn’t let them see his teeth ,” and followed that by saying, “we would have had to knock him out.” This was said without empathy and a bit accusatory, the conversation was being recorded.
If a dog’s anxiety or muzzle use prevents an adequate oral exam, that should be clearly communicated to the owner at the time, along with options such as earlier sedated exams or preventative dental cleanings- NOT explained years later after significant damage has occurred. My last visit to the VCA was three months ago.
Because of this, we are facing extensive pre-anesthetic testing because the brand new heart murmur could kill him under anesthesia meanwhile the disease is possibly spreading to his little organs.
Of all the services and addons that were discussed over the years, dental care was never emphasized despite his breed being high risk and despite the clinic knowing his exams were limited. This feels like a failure of preventative care, communication, and professionalism.

We took our very sick female chihuahua mix, into this vet clinic, they sounded compasionate on the phone, but when we got there! It was all about the money, fees, xrays, ect!!! Barely looked our dog over, didnt even take her tempature, it was totally about whether you could pay there outragious fees!!! They werent concerned about our precious little baby, all there concern was about your ability to pay for there services! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS HORRIBLE MONEY HUNGRY PLACE!!!! They want your money, not to treat your sick or dieing animal!!!!

VCA Silverlake is one of the worst veterinary experiences I’ve ever had. Do not be fooled by their so-called “care plans.”
I had a scheduled appointment and was forced to wait over an hour, only for the vet to never even show up. No apology. No explanation. Just disrespect for your time.
They aggressively push a nearly $2,000 annual plan, advertising it as “unlimited care.” That is completely misleading. Every single visit still comes with additional charges, surprise fees, and constant upselling. Nothing feels transparent, and you don’t realize how much you’re being charged until it’s too late.
To make matters worse, the staff is consistently rude and dismissive. Questions are met with attitude, not answers. Instead of feeling supported as a pet owner, you feel pressured, rushed, and taken advantage of.
This place operates like a corporate cash grab, not a clinic that actually cares about animals or their owners. Long waits, no accountability, hidden costs, and poor customer service — all wrapped up in false promises.
Save yourself the stress, money, and frustration. Go anywhere else.
