We brought our new puppy to see Dr Watson. Everyone was wonderful. They explained all the shots the puppy will need along with the schedule. We signed up for the Care Club which includes shots and spaying for first year!

I’m honestly very frustrated with Dr. Watson. I’ve been taking my dogs to VCA since moving here and my golden retriever has had her fair share of health issues as she has gotten older. We had taken her in July for stomach problems. Pretty quickly said it was colitis and prescribed a medication. It didn’t really help and by September my dog had declined more to where she eventually stopped eating all together. I brought her back in on a Monday, told them all the symptoms, and they did further testing. They didn’t initially weigh my dog, I had to ask because I said I know she’s lost weight since July. She lost 10 lbs. after they got the blood work they needed, they said I would get a call by Wednesday with the results. I had to ask what I was supposed to do in the meantime since my dog wasn’t eating anything since Thursday. Wednesday I called them at noon after not hearing anything and was told they had the results but needed to wait for Dr Watson or a technician to call. Called again at 5 and was basically told the same thing. Then at 5:45 (15 minutes before closing) I got an email saying test results were negative and they were just gonna prescribe her the same medication from July that didn’t work and some prescription food (that they gave her Monday that she wouldn’t eat). I called them because I obviously wasn’t thrilled with this course of action. Eventually they got Dr. Watson on the phone where he was shocked when I said that my dog wasn’t eating… that baffled me because that’s the whole reason I brought her in. Long story short, I had to basically beg for him to give suggestions as to what to do. Eventually he told me I’d get info for a specialist to do an abdominal ultrasound (that wouldn’t be able to get my dog in for over a week). I didn’t get any explanation on the blood work besides everything looked good. When I got the results I decided to put it in ChatGPT to analyze them and they had red flags on the blood work. I eventually brought my dog the CARE in Williamsburg when they confirmed the same concerns in her bloodwork as ChatGPT did. While ultimately we found out my dog likely had cancer and there wasn’t anything we could do for her (at CARE not VCA), I was very frustrated that Dr. Watson said everything looked good when they didn’t look good and just wanted to do the same things we did before that didn’t work.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve felt unheard with my concerns, but this was the last straw for me. I’m not usually one to leave long negative reviews, but I’d hate for the same thing to happen to someone else with their love pets

As long as octogenarian vet Dr. Murphy is there, it's a great place to take an ailing dog. Once he's no longer there, it will be like all the rest of the VCA monopoly vet clinics around here - expensive and impersonal.
