Just two weeks ago, we lost our sweet cat Susie, and it completely shattered our hearts. When our other cat, Oscar, suddenly stopped eating soon after, we thought he was just grieving her loss. But as the days went on, it became clear that something was really wrong — he wasn’t eating because he was in terrible pain from severe dental disease.
From the very first phone call, Hannah at the front desk was so kind and compassionate. Even though she had never met Oscar, she showed such genuine concern and care for him that I knew we had found the right place.
Kristen, a vet technician, gave me the reassurance I desperately needed — that they could help him — and she moved quickly to get him scheduled for dental surgery when she saw how badly he needed it. Dr. Belt made sure to cover all the bases and confirm that Oscar was healthy enough for surgery and didn’t have any hidden conditions that could put him at risk. And even though I didn’t meet her face-to-face, Dr. Mays performed his surgery with such skill and care, and gave him a true second chance at life.
Oscar came home last night, and he’s already eating, purring, and acting like himself again for the first time in weeks. I can’t express how thankful I am to the entire team at VCA Pets First Animal Hospital. They listened to me when I knew in my heart what was wrong, they treated him like their own, and they brought my boy back to me.
They didn’t just save his life — they gave him back his spark. 💕🐾

10/7/25.......DATE OF SERVICE
I WAS REFERRED THERE BY A FRIEND WHO TAKES HER DOG THERE. NOT ONLY WAS THE VET ASSITANT RUDE. SHE CALLED MY DOGS NAME I DIDNT HEAR HER AND SHE STARTED AT ME AND DID A SIDE HEAD TILT AND CALLED HER NAME AGAIN, I SAID IM SORRY I DIDNT HEAR YOU, GOOD MORNING HOW ARE YOU....
THEN VET CAME IN DR. BELT SHE WAS PRETTY GOOD. THE SAME LADY CAME BACK WITH A BILL OR SERVICES, I ASKED TO RE SEE THE VET SHE WAS HESISTANT TO CALL HER BACK LIKE I ASKED TO SEE JESUS...SHE SAID YEAH I MEAN YOU CAN..... I SAID OKAY CAN YOU GO GET HER'.....
LAST BUT NOT LEAST SHE (THE SAME LADY) CAME BACK IN TO TAKE MY BABY BACK AND PLACED A BAG OF PILLS ON THE TABLE AND PROCEEDED TO WALK TO THE BACK. I SAID MAM HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GIVE THIS, WHAT MED IS THIS SHE WAS STILL ATTEMPTING TO WALK TO THE BACK AND MADE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS ASKING A DUMB QUESTION. SHE SAID JUST GIVE HER THE PILLS .... I ASKED BUT HOW SHE KEPT TRYING TO GO TO THE BACK WITHOUT JUST TAKING A SECOND TO ACKNOWLEDGE ME PROPERLY ANSWERING MY QUESTION WITH HER BACK TURNED TO ME WHILE WALKING AWAY IS JUST UNPROFESSIONAL. SHE COULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING LIKE THIS MED IS A CHEWABLE... THIS MEDICATION IS A PILL YOU CAN USE CHESE PEANUT BUTTER ETC. IF SHE DONT SWALLOW IT YOU CAN TRY THE HEAD TILT ETC) I CALLED A FRIEND WHO IS A VETENARIAN AND SHE EXPLAINED IT TO ME. SHE WAS NOT WELCOMING AT ALL. I WILL GO AHEAD AND LET THEM CONTINUE HER TREATMENT FOR FLEA AND TICK BUT I WILL NOT BE BACK. FOR THIS TO BE SHORT PUMP, I HAD HIGHER EXPECTATIONS THAN THE SERVICE THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME. AS A NEW CUSTOMER I WOULD ASSUME THAT YOU WOULD WANT TO CREATE AN ENVIROMENT OF WELCOMINGNESS, AND GRATITUDE FOR CHOOSING US TO SERVICE YOUR PET AND ETC. EVEN AS A NURSE, I EXPLAIN ALL MEDICAITON AND HOW TO GIVE IT. I CAN ASSUME THEY SHOULD KNOW HOWEVER ITS MY JOB TO MAKE SURE I EDUCATE THE PATIENT ON WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW INSTEAD OF ASSUMING WHAT YOU FEEL IS COMMON SENSE. I PERSONALLY DO NOT RECOMEND THEM

I will never go back to this vet! I took my dog, whom I had adopted this year and who was a stray in my neighborhood. The vet and his assistant was not very welcoming. They did not seem to care about my story and only wanted responses to their questions. I told them she was chipped and how I had animal control check her, and I felt they treated me as if I took her from someone. I also did not realize that my dog had a lot of fleas since I have been trying some treatments, and they made me feel like I was a crappy dog owner. I only went here because I wanted to get her teeth cleaned, and they were promoting a free first visit, which was $250 or $300 if I didn't have the promotion. Also, an estimate for teeth cleaning was $3000-$3500. They will never see my money! That is wild!

I was deeply disappointed by the care that my dog experienced at this animal hospital. I brought her in an annual checkup and vaccine visit. Though they obtained my previous vet records over the phone before seeing my dog, they missed giving her a vaccine and asked me to come back in. In the week that transpired between my check up, I realized that she had a large lump on her leg. I thought it was her knee but on further Palpation it was a mass. I came back in the vaccine the next day and mentioned that I had noticed this mass. As it was large, I was surprised they didn't notice it on their exam. They proceeded to tell that I would need to pay another exam fee ($100) for them to check her leg. When I complained that they should have noticed on her first exam, they apologized that I had a new grad vet and that I would have needed to pay the exam fee for the vaccine anyway. As it was their fault that they didnt give her the vaccine on the last visit and hadn't palpated her legs (even though I told her she has arthritis and had been walking more weird lately. The vet proceeded to shame me that I hadn't brought it to their attention but then when the vet tech came in said she noticed on entering the room... The vet took a biopsy and assured it me wasn't cancer... They quoted me a 3.5k surgery to remove the mass as it was impacting her walking an growing some. They also charged me full price for the exam fee at that visit even though they were the ones who messed up twice. A week later they called me to inform me it was cancer but that they needed another biopsy to know the type. It would be another exam fee and pathology fee for this visit. I WILL NOT be returning to them after they shamed me and admitted the original check up should have caught that.
