Nice employees, but the local store is very poorly run. We attempted to pre-order the new iPhone 17s, which we were able to do, or so we thought. My husband went in person during the week of 9/15. Verizon said then that my new phone would be delivered to the store on 9/29 or 9/30. On 9/22, Verizon corporate texted me that my phone had shipped AND that it was delivered to the store that day. We went to the store on 9/26, expecting to pick up my new phone. It was unable to be found. Employee was apologetic and said we should return on Monday (9/29). Over the weekend, I started receiving texts from corporate badgering me to return my old device as a part of my purchase deal. Well, I’d love to, but you have not done your job first! After another trip to the local store, my husband was told that Verizon corporate actually botched this whole thing, that my phone was on back order, and it was now expected to arrive on 10/10, and that the local store would call us when my phone actually arrived. It is now 5 days past that new date. My phone has not even shipped yet! There is no update provided on my account at all. My husband has now read a tech article that says Apple grossly underestimated pre-order numbers and allowed vendors to oversell on pre-orders. It is now expected, according to this article, to be at least another 3-4 weeks until this snafu is resolved. In addition, my husband was told that I should ignore all future texts regarding this order because that was yet another screw-up at the corporate level. Last week I received 3 robocalls from Verizon corporate, badgering me yet again about returning my old device, even though they are well aware that they have not done their job yet. All 3 of these calls came in with 15-20 minutes of each other. Really? Is that necessary? I also noticed that, even though my husband pre-ordered my phone prior to 9/22 (when the erroneous texts began), Verizon now has it listed that the pre-order for my phone did not occur until 9/26. This makes no sense, given that they would not have known on 9/22 that I had pre-ordered if I did not place said order until 9/26. I mean, it’s just not rocket science to see how that works. And yes, I understand that the majority of what I have explained so far are issues at corporate level. However, I also think it is quite reasonable to expect the local store manager to get off his rear and do more to assist. And, at the very least, if you realize that one of your customers has been screwed over this severely, even if it is not your fault, you should at least offer some sort of compensation for that. That is how you can prevent good customers from leaving and taking their business elsewhere. Unfortunately, this has not happened at all, which tells me that no one at this local store cares about how customers are treated at all. Really quite unfortunate.
