Walked in to have my laptop looked at due to it not charging properly. Told them I thought it was the charging port. The man working the counter opened the laptop, spent 15 seconds typing away, and then said I would be better off buying another laptop because he was sure it was the SMC chip, which would be more than $1000 to replace. The guy seemed bothered by being disturbed and having to deal with me.... so I thought, let's get a second opinion.
So I went to another provider (CPR) on West Broad and they diagnosed my laptop with potential issues (charging port, battery, SMC, etc.). They ordered a new charging port after we discussed options, and installed it in less than 48 hours. Laptop started charging fine. Cost less than $100 to fix. They were so kind and explained everything.
Do not waste your time at Geek squad. Terrible customer service and a lazy attitude. If I had listened to them, I would be out more than $1000 with a still working computer that just needed a simple fix.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. Please take your computer to a local repair shop instead of GeekSquad. I brought my computer in for repair, and they convinced me to buy the Totaltech package in order to fix it and have the labor and diagnostic fees covered. They also agreed to call me when they finished their initial diagnosis and let me know if my hard drive needed to be replaced. Not only did they not call me as they said they would, but when I checked on the tracker provided by Best Buy, it said the machine and checked in and out within two minutes. When I went to pick up the machine, they said both hard drives in my machine were failing, and the CPU/Motherboard were potentially damaged as well. Then they told me they couldn't complete any repairs on the machine because it is technically a custom machine. If that was the case, why did you tell me you could repair it to begin with, and charge me over $200 for the Totaltech package?
I took my computer to a local repair shop, and they let me know that only one hard drive was giving them trouble, and there was no damage to my computer whatsoever as far as the CPU/Motherboard is concerned. I don't believe the Geek Squad even touched my computer (how could they have done a thorough diagnosis in two minutes)?
Please, do NOT take your computer here, and do NOT give these people your business.

Awful! The worst customer experience I’ve had in a long time. I brought in a laptop that needed a new hard drive. The Geek Squad agent helped me select the appropriate drive for the computer, I purchased it, then paid the additional $40 fee for them to install it. They assured me it would be ready the next day, but it actually took several days. That’s fine, but when I finally picked up the computer and brought it home it wouldn’t start up. Turns out it couldn’t locate the new hard drive. I returned to the store and the Geek Squad agents tried everything they could to make it work, but it wouldn’t cooperate. They finally agreed to take out the new hard drive and refund me that purchase, but refused to refund me the installation fee. I understand that they have a policy against refunding for work time, but why should I pay for their mistakes? They sold me the hard drive and stated it would work, and it didn’t. But that’s on me? What a gross display of incompetence!
