Dr. Belnap and the entire medical team at VCA Cottonwood acted swiftly and skillfully when I brought my German Shepard to them with a twisted stomach.
I called beforehand and they were ready and waiting when we arrived.
The entire staff was excellent and communicated very clearly and in a way I understood.
Not only are they great with regular veterinary care, they excel in emergency, after hours situations.

Friendly staff, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The wait times are long, if you can plan ahead bring a book or something to work on. They stock phone charges in the rooms (both lighting and USB-C) which was a total life saver for my 2 hr appointment. They also have free wifi.
The staff is also very knowledgeable, given I brought in a 14 year old dog on an emergency appointment for vomiting and they encouraged more tests instead of just doing outpatient treatment. And they were right! My dog had eaten something and it was far along enough that had we waited another day it would have been a major issue!

About a year ago, my fiancé and I rescued our dog, Koa, from Florida after she had been hit by a car. We were told she was almost fully recovered, but it quickly became clear her injuries were much more severe than we’d been led to believe.
While in Florida, we struggled to find proper treatment. Multiple vet visits left us feeling confused, overwhelmed, frustrated and unsure how to help her.
After moving back to Utah, everything changed. I’ll never forget our first visit here, I left in tears, but out of relief. For the first time, I truly understood what was going on with Koa, and we finally had a clear plan for her recovery. It made the whole situation feel so much more manageable.
I’m so incredibly grateful for Dr. Bagley and Dr. Porter. Their patience and kindness meant everything to us. They truly went above and beyond to make us feel heard, safe, and confident that Koa was in good hands. They took the time to walk us through everything in detail, what had happened to her, the extent of her injuries, and the plan moving forward. We never felt rushed, and they always made it clear they were there for us whenever we needed anything.
Koa has now made a full recovery and that would not have been possible without the incredible team at VCA Cottonwood!
This clinic is amazing. Specifically Dr Haililovic. We took one of our community cats who is domesticated to him because he lost movement in both lower extremities. He spent the time to do a thorough exam with minimal testing. He understands the needs of the animals family but most the animal. He has helped us get Shadow to walk again while being cognizant of the cost. He has always followed up with calls personally (rather than a tech). He explains plan options and actually listens in return. Highly recommend him and the clinic.

This review is less about the procedure itself and more about integrity and transparency.
My dog was seen at this clinic a couple of months ago to evaluate a mass on her stomach. At that time, I was given an estimate of $1,200 for the surgery to remove it. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the funds available at that moment, so I waited and saved the money.
A couple of months later, when I finally had the funds, I called the day before the surgery to confirm the cost and asked if the estimate was still around $1,200. I was told yes, so I scheduled the procedure for the next day.
When I arrived the following morning to drop off my dog, I overheard the doctor quietly asking the receptionist for my dog’s paperwork and saying that this should not have been accepted or scheduled. Shortly after, they asked if the doctor could speak with me. I agreed, of course.
The doctor examined my dog and said everything looked good. While we were talking, I pointed out two other very small spots on her body. The doctor mentioned that they were small enough to remove for essentially no additional cost, so I agreed.
After that, my dog was taken to the back, and I returned to the front desk. The receptionist explained that half of the payment was required before the procedure. I agreed and asked how much it would be. She told me $1,100, which immediately confused me. When she printed the paperwork, it showed the surgery estimate as $2,100–$2,500.
I explained that there must be some confusion because I had been told multiple times the cost would be around $1,200. She tried to resolve the situation, but after speaking with her supervisors and the doctor, she told me the higher amount was correct. They first explained that the original estimate had mistakenly been calculated for a large dog. However, after recalculating, the price remained the same.
I then asked what had changed, and they told me the mass had grown and the surgery was now more complicated. This was surprising, as I have been monitoring the mass very carefully and it has remained the same size. When comparing both estimates, nearly every line item was significantly higher than the original quote.
I understand that prices can change, and I would have understood if the cost increased slightly because of the two additional small bumps. However, seeing the price nearly double on the day of surgery put me in a very difficult position.
Because of this experience, I left feeling very disappointed and uncomfortable with how the situation was handled. It felt unfair and lacking in transparency.
It’s unfortunate because, aside from this experience, I do believe the doctors here are knowledgeable and skilled with dogs. However, due to this situation, I will not be returning in the future.
