I had an amazing experience at the store today. The representatives were extremely helpful and addressed all my concerns. I initially was concerned because when wanting to upgrade my phone they told me I had to pay a set up fee. I was unsure what this fee was but they explained to me that it was a mandatory store fee all customers pay, and that it was for the set up and transfer of the all my phones data to my new phone. They even game me the option to not pay and to set up my phone myself. I’m so glad I gave them my time and my money because they were able to get all the information from my old phone to my new phone without a hassle. They monitored my phone for over an hour while I ran errands, just to ensure I had all my information. That made upgrading my phone extremely easy. Love this store!

I’m sharing this as constructive feedback in hopes it reaches Verizon leadership — because the difference between two experiences at the same store, just one week apart, was significant. Last week we worked with a sales rep named Dallas, and the experience was exceptional. He took ownership of a complicated situation, communicated clearly, waived unnecessary fees, and ensured we were on the correct protection plan. It built a lot of trust in the Verizon brand. Today, when returning to upgrade another phone, that trust was challenged. We were initially told we had no protection on our plan — which was incorrect. Even after showing confirmation from Verizon, the rep attempted to move us to a higher-priced protection option. Only after involving a manager did they acknowledge we were already covered. During checkout, we were presented with a $40 “setup” fee. When I asked what service or value was being provided for that charge, there wasn’t a clear answer beyond opening the box. The explanation from management that it was “how the rep gets paid” was concerning and inconsistent with our prior visit. When we respectfully questioned it, the response from the manager was, “You can return it and go somewhere else if you want,” which felt dismissive rather than solution-focused. As someone who leads teams professionally, I know how important consistency, coaching, and customer experience are at the store level. Dallas demonstrated what great Verizon service looks like — transparency, ownership, and partnership with the customer. Today’s interaction felt misaligned with that standard. I’m not posting this simply to complain; I’m hoping it prompts a closer look at training, communication, and leadership behaviors in this location. I would welcome a follow-up from Verizon to ensure future customers receive the same level of service we experienced during our first visit.
