I have never written a negative review for a business before but after four days of reflecting, I feel the service was so poor that I have to share my experience with others. I was concerned my rabbit had an infection and there are only certain veterinarian clinics that will see rabbits because they are considered exotic. The regular clinic where we take our rabbits wasn't able to get her in for over a week so I asked them which emergency clinics see rabbits. I brought my rabbit to this clinic, which was a 45 minute drive for me. I arrived at 2:00 in the afternoon. After checking in, I was immediately placed in an exam room and a technician arrived shortly after to ask questions. The technician then told me she was taking my rabbit back by the veterinarian. I sat in the room until 4:30 without any update so I walked out to the front desk and asked if I could get an update on my rabbit. The woman at the front desk went to the back and then told me that they had some emergencies come in and that my rabbit hadn't been seen. I explained that my husband was out of town and that I left two children at home. I asked for a time estimate because I wanted to update my children on when I would be home. She told me the veterinarian should see my rabbit within the hour. I went back to the exam room and sat there for another hour. At 5:30, I went back to the front desk and told the receptionist that I really needed to go home to make my children dinner and get them ready for bed. I asked if my rabbit was close to being seen. She called someone in the back of the clinic and was told that my rabbit still hadn't been seen and that they didn't know when they would be able to see her. The receptionist told me I could leave and come back later to pick-up my rabbit. I informed her that it was a 45 minute drive for me and that I wouldn't be able to return after my children were in bed. The only other option I was given was to take my rabbit and leave. I went back to the exam room to wait for my rabbit and was crying when the technician brought her back to me. I told the technician that I took 1/2 day off work, drove 45 minutes to come to the clinic, waited 3.5 hours in a room without a single update that wasn't prompted by me, and was now essentially forced to leave with a sick rabbit because I had children at home that needed me. She was sympathetic and said she would ask the veterinarian if I could leave my rabbit and pick it up the next day. I told her I would very much appreciate that. The technician returned to the room after speaking to the veterinarian and told me I couldn't leave my rabbit overnight. I could either sit and wait an unknown amount of time for her to be seen or I could take her and leave. She then proceeded to tell me how emergency rooms work. I am a clinician so I have a solid understanding of how emergency rooms work. What I don't understand is leaving someone in a room for 3.5 hours without a single update and then sending them home without working out a reasonable solution to provide care to a sick animal. I left the clinic sobbing and drove the 45 minutes back home with my sick rabbit. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to going to this clinic. There are several that mention long wait times without any updates.

I don't know how I forgot to leave this review, but it's long overdue. Two years ago, the team at VCA cared for my Pomeranian Leeloo while I was out of the country after she suddenly became critically ill. They not only saved her life at the time, but lovingly cared for her until I could make it back home. Every shift called with updates, and they were even thoughtful enough to work around my flights back from India so I could receive updates when I landed while I was desperately trying to get back to her. It is a MIRACLE what they did for her as she defied all odds as it took me 2 days to get home. They answered all of my questions and sat down with me each day when I got home and walked through kidney disease / failure with me and were so compassionate. After about a week of their incredible care, Leeloo was well enough to come home. Sadly, her kidney failure eventually took her just over two weeks later which they helped me during this process too. But without the compassion, skill, and dedication of this amazing team, I wouldn't have had those precious final weeks with my sweet girl. Those extra days were an immeasurable gift, and I will be forever grateful to every member of the VCA team for giving us that time together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you also for starting the “Hospitalized Pet of the week” upon her inspiration. She was one of the happiest bounciest girls and I’m so thankful to see these updates on your page for other pets. It always reminds me of her and makes me smile. Your team is truly a blessing 🙏🏽 thank you for everything you did for us and that you do for all of your patients!

The staff genuinely care about the animals. The vets are not just all about the money. I have been bringing my pets here for years for emergencies and they are hands down the best. I am lucky to have such good care nearby for my dogs.

Stay away!! This was the most unprofessional vet that I have ever seen. I was shocked at this vets behavior, very cold and it was all about the money. If I tried to ask a question I was immediately shut down. We walked out What a waste!

We would like to thank Dr. Larissa Wiger and the staff at the VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals for helping us during one of the hardest nights with our dog, Charlie. Dr. Wiger was compassionate, honest, knowledgeable, and caring during a very emotional and difficult time for our family. At first, after reading some reviews online, I was a little unsure, but after meeting Dr. Wiger, we felt much more comfortable and supported. She helped guide us through an incredibly painful situation and helped us come to the right decision for Charlie with kindness and professionalism. We just want to sincerely say thank you. The Johnson Family
