  Wow if I have to recommend a good vet in tacoma it’ll always be the VCA in parkland! We’ve been going to them for years now, since both our dogs migi and yuko was a puppy and migi is 7 and yuko is 5 now and they always take such good care of us and our babies! Yuko is a reactive, anxiety riddled, non dog friendly dog and bc of that he has fear-based aggression at the vet whenever they handle him and they really go above and beyond to accommodate us and make the appts as smooth as possible. They clear out the lobby for us when we go in and out to make sure there’s no dogs near yuko. They provide blankets for him to lay on while waiting for the sedation to kick in and to to cover his eyes/head with so he’s not so scared when they handle him since he can’t see lol, even though he’s a large and scary 75lb pitbull they’re always so kind and understanding and we easily get his exams, vaccines, nail clippings and anal gland domes within like 20min! Today’s vet appt went so smoothly bc they know yukos history. I prefer Dr. Sumida since she’s familiar with our dogs!

  Online says they close at 7. I got here 610. Im sitting in the parking lot typing this. So frustrated because I called this afternoon, let them know I would be here as soon as I could after I got off work to pick up my cats remains. Instead I get here, im told on Wednesdays they close at 6 and can I come back tomorrow. Thank you for making picking up my baby's remains a great experience.

  If you truly love your fur baby and want their final moments to be treated with the compassion, patience, and respect they deserve, I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO CONSIDER TAKING THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE! I recently had to make one of the most painful decisions of my life: saying goodbye to my sweet baby boy and making the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. What should have been a private, compassionate, and peaceful time to be with him during our final moments instead was rushed and interrupted because "there were people who wanted to go home". JUST SO COLD! I will never get those last moments with my baby back, and that is something I will have to live with. I'm honestly upset with myself for allowing anyone to rush me during the final moments I had with my son. Yes, he was a dog—but to me, he was so much more than that. He was my family. He was my baby. He was my son. I understand that veterinary professionals have to remain professional and that they cannot become emotionally involved in every situation. I respect that. But being professional should never mean being cold, impatient, or making a grieving pet parent feel like their devastating loss is simply another animal being euthanized before the workday ends. Euthanasia is not “just another appointment” for the family saying goodbye. It is one of the most painful and unforgettable moments a pet owner may ever experience. The process should be handled with patience, compassion, dignity, and respect—for both the animal and the people who love them. No one should feel pressured or rushed during their final moments with a beloved pet because someone else is ready to go home. Those moments cannot be redone. If you want a veterinary team that understands how heartbreaking this process truly is and treats your pet's final moments with the care, compassion, and respect they deserve, please carefully consider your options and make sure you choose a place that will give you and your fur baby the time and dignity you both deserve. This place is NOT the place. And I make this review, because now this is something I cannot forgive myself for and cannot get over! I miss him so dearly!
