    I don’t usually leave reviews but my experience today left me a bit speechless so here I am. I’m new to the area and have been looking for vets for my cats, so I decided to take advantage of the first free exam with VCA to try them out. I booked the appointment for my youngest cat, but ended up taking my oldest last minute because he had been scratching at his ears so I decided to take him in to make sure that was looked at ASAP; I never even got a chance to even say that to the first desk lady because, as soon as I said it was another cat, she immediately caught an attitude, switched her tone, and said she’d have to check with the doctor to see since they didn’t have any records for my oldest cat. While all of this is completely understandable, and even though I knew what he needed as I’ve been in charge of his care since he was 2 months and had his records on my phone, her demeanor really jarred me. She literally sighed out loud (on top of being rude), clearly frustrated, over an issue that was not only reasonable under circumstances, but also resolved in about 2 minutes. Needless to say that the customer is not always right, but I was kind and polite (and had valid reasons for the last minute switch up), and it’s quite literally her job to be the face of the company (or at least the location) and the first point of contact people have, so it should be part of training for whoever is working the desk to know how to properly handle their own emotions and maintain kindness and professionalism with the clients coming in. You never know why someone may not have followed your protocol, or deviated from normal practices, but communication and understanding can go quite far. Because of her, I knew I was not going back to that location, and I’d like to make sure the company also knows that this is something that should probably be addressed. We’re all adults and we should all be able to properly manage our own emotions without taking it out on others. Staff should also know that sometimes people can hear what you’re saying to each other in the back, even when you whisper, as the walls are not that thick. The doctor herself was great, no complains there.

    Kim at the front was awesome! Melanie and Dr. Kastner are so amazing and kind to my dog. We transferred from another office and they were so kind, can’t wait to come back!

    Fully charged a card when I asked to use Care Credit. The desk did not inform me it would be a full charge, only that it had to have a Mastercard logo or she “would have to go all the way on the website and do it there” as if it was an issue. I was not informed the usual payment plan I use isn’t eligible through using the card reader, and I tried to call back multiple times that day. The vet and medical staff are kind, but the front desk has always been rude to customers so I have tried to make conversation quick. They’re only open a few days a week with limited hours, and I rarely get someone in the phone when I call. Online booking works best. The floor was really gross and my dog ate something under the chair, and the pee may they put down had poop on it not from my dog. The charges at this location are substantially higher than local vets and what I remember them costing. Over $400 for ear drops, a shot, and an exam to verify ear medication. I’ve paid $250 locally for this same issue. I will go somewhere who utilizes medical accounts properly instead of fully charging on a 28% APR card, with clean floors, and better hours from now on, I took pets here on and off for 2 decades and had hit or miss experiences. Do not recommend.

    We were with VCA Rose Hill for the life of our standard poodle. Like with humans, he needed more care during his later years. Through it all, our dog absolutely loved going here. Great care & caring environment by Dr. Kastner, Alice & Kim. Takes insurance too.
