We love our vets here. We started coming to VCA Meadow Hills about 8 years ago. My mom and sister began taking their fur-babies because I couldn't stop raving about the clinic. Dr. Gerds and Dr. Small are our favorites, but Dr. Gerds has a special place in our hearts. She handles end-of-life decisions so well, listens and does not judge. She is honest, and it can be hard to hear, but she wants the best for her fur-patients as we do our fur-babies. Dr. Small is really caring and gentle, and its hard not to love her sense of humor. I don't want to leave the receptionists and technicians out. The staff from front of house to back are friendly and caring. They always do the right thing and xare for the customer and fur-baby.

I moved to TC 15 months ago and have been going to VCA Meadow Hills since then with my three dogs. I'd say most months, I spend anywhere from a few hundred to $1000+ on vet fees, and I've spent around $1000-$1500 for boarding four times in total.
The vet services have been fine. None of the doctors are awful but it also feels like they're not invested in my dogs' needs (case in point: my dog had contagious diarrhea. I took him to HHH Urgent Care because VCA didn't have an appointment slot for two days and my guy was losing a lot of water. They gave him a stool hardener, a "make your tummy feel better" med, and a probiotic. He was fine in two days after that. Then my other two dogs got it. I took them to VCA and they got just a probiotic. I pushed back and said "but what about the next few days" and they said essentially "they'll be fine" which, while true, didn't help with me spending 5 more days of cleaning up poop all over my house).
I will say the vets do generally seem informed and intelligent. The vet techs are also pretty good and nice to my dogs. That's why they're getting two stars instead of one.
The issue is with their boarding. For the first 3 boarding visits they had there, I was charged ~$140 a night for three dogs. Pricy, but I like having my boys at a boarding facility with a vet for peace of mind. They all shared a kennel, so I was charged $60 for the first dog and $40 for the other two (the price for the little tiny kennels) which seemed fair.
Yesterday, I went to pick my dogs up after 8 nights of boarding (but ope! Company policy is to charge for the next night if you pick up after 11! So you get charged 9 nights). I was expecting the fee to be ~$1500 but was a bit surprised when the total was $1850. I voiced this concern to the person checking me out but acknowledged that she couldn't do anything about it, and said I'd be back the next day to talk to someone who could. (I'd previously spent 10 minutes standing in line because a lady couldn't figure out that this poor one hour Sunday pickup window girl had no power to help her with anything, so there was a line behind me).
Anyways I get home and check the emailed receipt and lo and behold I was charged $62.85 per night for all three dogs.
I went in this morning and asked to talk to someone that could help me and I feel I remained polite but I was told "corporate changed the policy." When I pushed back I was told "this is too big for me to handle. You'll have to talk to the hospital director even though I'm a supervisor. But also he's on vacation until Thursday." (Paraphrased, don't remember exactly what she said). She told me she'd make a note for him to call me or something and I said "I'll be back on Thursday" so we'll see if he calls me before I get off work.
In any case, I'm definitely finding a new boarding facility, and, depending on what the director has to say on Thursday, might be finding a new vet too.
In the spirit of full disclosure about the exchange, I will acknowledge towards the end of our chat (where she, as far as I recall, never even said sorry), that I became less than polite. I did not raise my voice but I think the most frustrated thing I said was "do you have any recommendations for other boarding facilities? Because I'm sure as hell not bringing them back here". To her credit she did give me a few recs.
Update: I showed up at 2:30 on Friday (I gave him Thursday and most of Friday to call me back, and never heard from him). I entered and politely said "hi, I have a bill complaint and was told to come back Thursday or Friday when the hospital administrator will be in?"
The same chick as last time said "ohhhh... He already left for the day." I said he hadn't called me yet and she said "yeah, he got back yesterday so today was his first day back but he's gone for the day." She offered me his business card and I said "I'd prefer to talk to him in person. Can you tell me when he'll be in?" And was told "sorry, he has no set hours. It just depends."
At this point I said "unbelievable" and walked out.
One star now.

I was running late for an appointment at 6:10. I was literally minutes away when I was called at 6:11, first asking if I was still planning to come in, as soon as I told them I was almost there they said the dr wanted to reschedule because I was late but she would talk to dr. I got there 5 minutes late and was told I the dr was not able to see my dog because I was15 minutes late. I showed her my conformation texts showing I was 5 minutes late. She insisted that I was 15 and someone changed my appointment. I asked to talk to the dr and I was told he was on the phone. So he wasn’t even available any way. I am extremely disappointed with the way I have been treated by the same staff member for the past year after almost 20 years of bringing my pets here.
The only thing that has kept me going here is convenience in time they open….
