I had a very disappointing experience during my dog’s final Care Club visit.
I specifically called ahead to schedule this appointment for services that were covered under her Care Club plan. My husband took our dog to the appointment as a favor since I couldn’t be there.
Before the appointment, I received reminder calls and notifications about the visit, but at no point was I ever told that my dog would need to be medicated before coming in. If this had truly been a requirement, that information should have been communicated when I scheduled the appointment or in one of the appointment reminders so I could have been prepared.
The first interaction with the veterinary assistant immediately set the tone. She was hostile from the start and insisted that my dog needed to be medicated before being seen because she had “tried to bite someone” during a previous visit. This was the first time I had ever heard that claim. I have always been upfront that my dog has never bitten anyone, and I’ve even requested that they use a muzzle if they feel it’s necessary for everyone’s safety.
The assistant pointed to the medical record and repeatedly insisted that my dog needed to be medicated. She also kept saying that my dog’s Care Club had expired in September. Not only was that incorrect, but it didn’t even make sense because we are only at the beginning of August. My dog’s Care Club doesn’t expire until September 2026, so it was clear she had the months confused. Despite me trying to explain this over the phone, she continued repeating the same incorrect information instead of listening.
The only time my dog has ever been prescribed medication was before her dental procedure for teeth cleaning and extractions. Instead of trying to help or offering a solution, she responded, “Well, the meds are expired” How am I supposed to medicate her then…?
Throughout the phone conversation, her attitude was extremely disrespectful. She was breathing heavily, making faces, and acting visibly irritated while I was trying to explain the situation. My husband actually had to mute the call so he could ask her to stop being disrespectful and request assistance from someone else.
Thankfully, another staff member stepped in. The difference was night and day. She was calm, understanding, professional, and took the time to explain everything without being argumentative or rude.
One unpleasant employee can completely change a client’s experience. If this is how this assistant treats pet owners, it makes me question how she treats animals when they’re scared or uncooperative. Customer service, patience, and compassion are essential in veterinary medicine, and unfortunately, those qualities were completely missing during this interaction.

I’m giving two stars because I do enjoy the VCA in the Kent area. I’m very disappointed I wasted $700+ dollars After I was very concerned about my feline and his vomiting issues. Sat around, waiting by my litter boxes to send in a fresh poop sample to be told. He was negative. I then shortly after discovered he has tapeworms and found a prescription on Chewy that they had to approve and they highly recommending I bring him back in. I just do not trust the services, especially at that price point. :(

If I could give zero stars, I would.
Losing my cat was devastating , especially when I trusted a veterinary team with her care. Instead of feeling supported, I often felt my concerns were dismissed and I was met with attitude from Dr. Taylor, management, and staff.
I understand that not every outcome can be prevented, especially with an elderly pet, but I expected compassion, professionalism, and appropriate follow-through in her care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
