I have brought my pets to this veterinary clinic for years, and my family has several pets that come here as well. I have always recommended this clinic and have generally been very happy with the care and the staff. That is why my experience today was especially disappointing.
When I made Sebastian’s appointment for a cytopoint injection, I was told about his yearly examination that was due. The receptionist, told me that I could have Sebastian’s injection appointment that day but I need to schedule his yearly examination before his next visit. Based on that conversation, that is exactly what I did.
When I arrived today, Sebastian was taken to the back and I'm assuming was treated very well by the technician. The girl who brought him back out to me was very kind and told me how good he had been.
The problem came when the bill was the bill was brought to the front desk. I heard someone who was speaking very harshly and rude to another employee about Sebastian’s appointment. She pointed at the computer screen and said things to the effect of, “I would have never done this if I had known,” and that she was “not doing it anymore.” The waiting room had other clients in it, and I was extremely uncomfortable hearing a discussion about my pet and my appointment being handled that way in front of everyone.
I asked Meghan what was going on, and she was extremely nice and apologetic. I made it clear to her that I did not blame her and that I understood mistakes happen when appointments are made. My concern was the way the tech spoke to her and the way she addressed the situation about my visit. She spoke with an attitude, pointed toward the computer like for her to look at his chart on the computer screen.
When I spoke directly with Cierra, I explained that I work in healthcare and that I understand policies and mistakes happen. We educate and apologize and move on. My issue was not simply what she was saying—it was how she said it.
While addressing the situation, and never acknowledged or apologized for the way she handled it. Telling me she could lose her licenseand added in a rude way said. "Well did you make him a appointment??" She also stated that she would make a note in his chart not to see him if a physical appointment was not made. The she proceeded to walk to the back offices while I was still trying to communicate with her.
I also explained to Meghan that concerns involving a client or their pet should be handled privately and professionally, rather than discussed in front of a waiting room full of people. As I was when there was no clients or pets in the waiting area. Unfortunately, instead of simply saying, “I’m sorry, I should not have spoken that way,” the conversation became defensive. As when I asked Meghan for her name she stormed back to the front desk and said Cierra ....spelled C-I-E-R-R-A and walked off again to the back office .
I want to be clear that Meghan Lively was kind, professional, and helpful throughout this situation. My concern is specifically with how Cierra handled this situation.
This kind of behavior and outbursts is not acceptable in any setting . People make mistakes, and I understand that. What matters is how you communicate with clients and how you handle those mistakes. I spend a lot of money here because I trust this clinic with my animals, and all of my family members are also part of your clients. Not to mention I have referred other people here for years. I simply expected to be treated with the same respect and professionalism that I would expect in any healthcare setting. Makes you kind of think if she speaks like this to her co-workers... And clients how are animals treated in the back when we are not in the room with them???
I hope management takes this experience seriously, because I would much rather see a long-time client remain happy with the clinic than leave feeling disrespected and unheard. Please do not respond with AI !!!

Daughter took both of her cats there. No problem with the one because the normal vet saw that one. Second cat goes in for a check and it’s a different vet. My daughter told them she was concerned that a stray she had adopted was pregnant. Vet said the cat needed to poop. She pooped all right four days later. A singleton kitten that died the next day. Took her to Vinton because no one else was open. $563 later the situation was handled. My daughter called and spoke to the office manager. She was told she should have been offered an X-ray if there was a pregnancy concern. Said they would talk to the vet and get back with her. This was the day after Labor Day and she hasn’t heard a single word back. She found a new vet closer to her that doesn’t require a loan to be seen. They also know what a pregnant cat looks like. Really sad they couldn’t even be bothered to call her back as promised. She’s an excellent pet owner and spends tons of money on her pets. Now you won’t get that money, and someone else will since she doesn’t trust you to tell the truth or know what you’re talking about. Such a shame. Maybe pay attention next time. Oh yea, there be a next time.

Wish I could give less than a half of a star. This place charged me $630.00 for labs on my sick pup, never found anything different or more than I already knew. Sent me home with a pee cup to collect her urine. This was over 2 weeks ago, and I to date, havent even gotten a call, text, or email from anyone here checking on her or asking if I needed help collecting her urine, or to even ask where it was so they could test it as I paid for that service too. They dont care about you or your pets. This place is an expensive joke.

I used to absolutely ADORE this place. But something has absolutely changed here. I have been waiting for months for a call back from the office manager because I was charged 2 completely different prices for the EXACT same medication. The only difference was the weight in my dogs. They have no problem sending a bill every week but still have yet to explain this discrepancy. They charge astronomical prices for a gland cleaning ($66) My dog now pees backwards ever since his neuter, When I brought this up after his surgery no one else there seemed to think that mattered. My other dog was put on too high of a MG of apoquel. I found this out when my new vet prescribed him a lower dose. And last but not least when my new vet reviewed his records from VCA someone had put that my boy was a bite risk. We were never told about any issues when taking him so it's really unfair to do that to a dog. Especially a bully breed. Thankfully my new vet realized that was not the case at all with my guy and immediately removed it and wondered why VCA would put that on there. We absolutely used to have good experiences here but something has changed. Please proceed with caution when taking your animal here.
