I scheduled an appointment through my AppleCare+ plan, as my screen is cracked. The app said an appointment was available at 4:40pm. I arrive on time, yet there’s only one person at the geek squad desk. Unfortunately, he’s talking to some boomers about cell phones, and it takes like 5 minutes for either him to grab someone, or for anyone to come out. Whatever. Someone comes out, asks if I have an appointment, I say yes, for a screen repair. She asks me to sit down. Ok. Then she helps another customer, which is fine, great, good. But I wait another ten minutes, with her mainly in the back area. Finally she comes out, I say I need a screen replacement. She then asks me to logout of Find Me, which, sure. After I do so, she then tells me that they won’t be fixing my screen today. That the “guy who does that” is about to leave. She follows up by saying that scrolling it through the app doesn’t actually mean anything, and that it’s best to come early to make sure it gets done. Ok… She then walks to the front, and says she’s going to reschedule. Whilst approaching that counter, I ask how to turn my Find Me setting back on. She says to not worry about it, because I’ll just be back in the morning. That’s not what I asked, but ok. I’ll just figure it out really quick while she’s talking. She then said, “Well there are no appointments for tomorrow anyway…” At which point, I inform her that I’m leaving, and do so.
There are a few questions rolling around my head as I’m leaving. If, when scheduling an appointment, which lets me select which issue I’m facing, does it allow appointments for cracked screens if you don’t have the staff for that? Secondly, why are you making me wait 15 minutes, and asking me to unlock my find me if you are aware that I have a cracked screen and will not be able to get to it? And why, after disabling the find me setting, you then tell me not to worry about enabling it, when you aren’t sure that I have the ability to come back early tomorrow morning? And surprise, you don’t have availability then, anyway?
This is no issue with the fact that you may not have the staffing to provide repairs for all of your business hours, I mean, you kind of should, but I understand it’s hard to find people. My issue is making me wait, asking me to do stuff that is null to the outcome of today, and having a blasé demeanor when I ask a question.
The funny thing was I planned on screwing around, and maybe purchasing some things. I’m a dj, a photographer, and I’m a former computer tech. Now I’m going to to the other location in town to fix my phone, or mail my phone in directly, just out of spite.
Went to Best Buy in Myrtle Beach this weekend and didn't bring my speaker, so I went to Best Buy. Was greeted at the door by Riley and he took me to the portable speakers. I purchased the Sony Field ULT 3. I didn't have time to really research it but it had good reviews. Later I was doing some research and found the ULT 5 was supposed to be much better. By now I was back home so I went to Best Buy in Lynchburg. I asked for a manager to see if I could get a better price if I upgraded, no manager ever came to talk to me. Instead they communicated to the associate at customer service through the walkie talkies. No discounts! I did the exchange, paid the difference and left. Went home tried out the speaker and was not impressed with the ULT 5 for the difference in price. Went back to the Lynchburg location to exchange back to to ULT 3. They wanted to charge me more than the original price for the same product (different color). Told me the difference in price was the color, pulled it up on my phone both colors were the same price. I asked for a manager to see if we could work it out...it was only a $10.00 difference I had just purchased 3 days ago. They sent an associate, no manager, then the supervisor came and said I am their supervisor and the price would be the $10.00 more if I wanted the product. I said fine just give me the original one I purchased in Myrtle Beach, the supervisor said she couldn't do that, she would have to do a sales audit. At that point I said just return everything, she said fine and walked away. This is the new Best Buy and their version of customer service. Amazon is looking better and better...at least I don't have to deal with negative people.
