Our sweet 3 year old pup, Finnegan, sustained a CCL tear while playing at the dog park with our other dog. Couple that with a luxating patella, the recommendation was ultimately surgery. Southpaws was recommended by our general vet. We went in for our consult with Dr. Norton and were so pleased! His staff was warm and kind to our limping pup and he was honest about the injury and surgical intervention. We had gone in expecting surgery to be the answer so that wasn’t a surprise. I was over the moon that Dr. Norton took the time to explain it all to us.
Post op, we had communication once Finn was in recovery and could call to check on him if needed. I went to pick him up the next day and I could tell he had gotten great care.
Fast forward to a few days later at home, we woke up around 1am and Finnegan had played Houdini and taken ALL of his staples out! My momma heart panicked! We took him back in the middle of the night and they were so kind as I carried my almost 40 lb baby in! There was no shaming us for what happened and they even let us bring our other pup to hang out while his brother was being cared for in back! (Had he been left at home our neighbors would’ve hated us!)
We just had our 8 week followup and our oldest babe has a clean bill of health and is able to “be a dog” as Dr. Norton put it! We could not be more grateful for Southpaws making a tough situation for us run so smoothly!

They were so helpful and spent so much time with us. They were efficient and reasonably priced compared to others and the wait time was not bad considering it was a Saturday night. Dr. McGee was so helpful and gave very good advice. The consulting surgeon got back to us very fast with the results of the X-ray and the front desk was very friendly and helpful whenever I called. Would definitely recommend!

They tell you your dog will be seen by an eye specialist only to then tell you they don't have specialists on weekends and have you a bill of three hundred something just because they saw your dog. I knew exactly what my baby needed. They just want you to come in and start getting your $$ as quickly as they can . Avoid this place if you don't want to get ripped of.

Huge Warning! Services are very expensive! What's worse they don't care about animals, want to make money no matter what, even if it would hurt your pet unnecessarily and leave it crippled. My cat had a fracture of front leg , close to joint, so they said couldn't do cast . Offered amputation for 3500 or surgery with screws for more. And x-ray was some ridiculous amount too I still paid. Politely declined their options, took cat home , limited her walking to minimum, she was walking a month later!!! They were ready to cut her leg off!!! If that's not animal cruelty I don't know what is. Be careful!

Very disappointed with the front desk customer service at VCA SouthPaws. We had been waiting for hours and politely asked if there was any update on our dog and whether the discharge process could be expedited. Instead of a simple, courteous response, the receptionist replied, "Do you want the doctors to stop what they're doing and get your dog?" That response was unnecessary and unprofessional. When families are worried about their pets and paying thousands of dollars for care, they deserve kindness and respect. A simple, "I'll check and let you know," would have been the appropriate response.
