Dr Luna, Sydney, and the team at VCA Park Cities are incredible! I have very sweet but very anxious large dog, and previous vets I have been to have not had any patience or understanding regarding her anxiety. I let them know that Ollie can be a little reactive towards other dogs (barking) when I first checked in, and they immediately made sure that we could bring her in seamlessly without any issues. Sydney, the vet tech, made sure Ollie was comfortable the second we were seen. When Dr Luna came in, she sat on the ground with her and went above and beyond in the care she showed. Dr Luna was also extremely thorough and knowledgeable in her exam and treatment plans for Ollie. We are so grateful for their patience and warmth towards our girl. This was the first time we went to the vet and weren’t stressed or overwhelmed. Thank you so much to Dr Luna and Sydney for your exceptional service!

TLDR: I was told my 3-year-old cat needed major surgery or euthanasia for constipation. A second opinion treated her with fluids and medication, and she was better within 12 hours. This vet is quick to suggest the most extreme treatments, including euthanasia, rather than working toward a practical solution. I brought my 3-year-old cat here for severe constipation. They performed an X-ray to confirm the issue, and it was clear she needed medical intervention to help move the blockage. An enema was recommended as a semi-non-invasive option to remove the fecal matter. However, due to the amount and location of the stool, not all of it could be removed. I took her home, where she proceeded to hide for 48 hours straight and refused to eat or drink. Concerned, I brought her back to make sure everything was okay. That’s when Dr. Beck told me this was a “life-threatening condition,” due to a pelvis fracture she had as a kitten. After a brief exam, I was told my options. Hydration and monitoring were briefly mentioned, but he quickly dismissed them as having a very low chance of success, calling them essentially a waste of time and money. The two options he ultimately gave me were: a major surgery to open her up and remove the blockage, which he described as having “one hell of a recovery,” or euthanasia. Those were my only options. He suggested that my 3-year-old cat may need to be put down. Naturally, I was devastated. I sat in the exam room sobbing, holding my cat and thinking it might be the last time I’d ever see her. At no point were other reasonable options explored or offered. There was no meaningful discussion of medication or supportive care, just pressure to choose between a risky surgery or saying goodbye. I decided to get a second opinion, and I’m incredibly grateful that I did. I went to Golden Triangle Animal Hospital, where my family has taken our pets before. The veterinarian there seemed genuinely confused about why I had been told such extreme options. He explained that this is something he has seen before, including in cases far more severe than mine. His treatment plan was straightforward: IV fluids for hydration, medication to stimulate her GI system, and pain management. Within an hour, I was heading home with medications to continue treatment. Within 12 hours, my cat was already improving. She began eating, drinking, using the litter box, and no longer hiding. She was back to herself. While I don’t doubt that my cat needed immediate care, the experience at VCA made it feel like I was being pushed toward an expensive and risky surgery or euthanasia, without fully exploring other options. What upsets me most is that during three separate visits, pain management was never once discussed. I watched my cat suffer for days, trusting that the treatment plan I was given was the right one. I will never bring my pets here again, and I cannot recommend this clinic. If you find yourself at the VCA on Lover’s Lane facing a serious diagnosis, I strongly encourage you to seek a second opinion.

I’ve gone to this vet for about 9 years, since I rescued my dog. I will say that I’ve seen a few different doctors but all of them are knowledgeable and caring. (We have seen Dr. Snyder, Withrow and McKinley). I believe it was Dr. Withrow that recommended care club for my Senior dog, and I did not feel sold at all - in fact, it ended up being a great decision for my dog and I later that year. One thing that stands out is when my dog started having medical issues, there were several tests to be done, and the communication, transparency on costs, and options were incredible. Dr. Snyder was on my dog’s case and I could always rely on a prompt reply and next steps in her prognosis. Additionally, the nurses and staff are very kind and accommodating - it is a pleasure interacting with them. If you are looking for an honest, reliable vet clinic in the area, I highly recommend.

We have had such an amazing experience with VCA Park Cities, especially with Dr. Beck. He has been Bear’s vet since he was a puppy, and I truly can’t imagine trusting anyone else with his care. Dr. Beck is incredibly attentive and thorough. He always takes the time to listen, answer every question, and explain things in a way that makes you feel informed and confident in the decisions you’re making for your pet. His knowledge and experience are so evident, but what really stands out is how much he genuinely cares. Bear has always been comfortable at his appointments, and that says so much about the environment Dr. Beck and the team create. We are so grateful for the years of compassionate, consistent care. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a vet who treats your pet like family.
