Doctor Roberson is an absolute gem! I first met him a few years ago, back when he was working at the VCA off jones road. We now travel 30 mins to see him for all three of my pups since he moved to this location. He is the best vet we’ve ever had! He is not only knowledgeable in his vast expertise in treatments; but is also so gentle and kind, not only with my fur children but my human toddler as well. She loves going to the vet because she knows she gets a lollipop as soon as we walk in. 😂 The staff, and vet techs are also so friendly and wonderful at addressing questions and concerns. We truly love seeing them all, and they treat your pets like family. Dr. Roberson even goes out of his way to check up on my dogs after their teeth cleaning just to make sure they were doing ok. If he moves again, I guess we will have to start planning Buc-ee’s stops for our road trips to see him.

I took both of my cats in today for their annual visits. I saw a different vet than I normally see due to a schedule conflict. The vet, tech, and assistant were all wonderful. Each team member took the time to discuss any questions or concerns I had and gave very thorough answers. I had concerns about seeing another vet because one of my cats is on maintenance medicine, but it was no issue. When it is time to refill all I need to do is call the front desk or submit a message via the app. Also, one of my cats is a little less than friendly while in new surroundings. The vet and staff were extremely patient and adjusted their technique to get her her shot. We have been going here for a few years and we are always pleased with our interactions. Plus, it is very clean, which is a very big requirement in my book. Highly recommend!

VCA Prestonwood has helped us more times than I can count with all of our animals. From my 80lb dogs torn ACL, to our puppy who was attacked and fed through a feeding tube, to the family of kittens I brought in today with upper respiratory issues, Dr. Roberson and his team have shown us not only the best medical care, but genuine love and concern for our pets well being. They always review all of our options with us and they treat our animals like they are their own. They have also euthanized a few of our sweet babies and handled it with such love, care and kindness. I have never had such a calming and peaceful feeling about bringing my animals anywhere until I came here. I trust them 100% with all of our 28 barn cats, 5 indoor cats and 7 dogs. They are truly doing Gods work and taking care of all his creatures, great and small. Highly recommend Dr. Roberson and VCA Prestonwood!

Get a second opinion when major diagnoses are made. I brought my senior cat in for vomiting - she is not an overly friendly animal, which I always disclose at the start of my visits, but has never done anything other than hiss/growl in her 9 years of life. The tech was immediately put off and resistant to do anything. She took my cat to the back where I proceeded to be able to hear her make comments & complain. The vet came into the room to suggest I do a full senior blood panel & urine testing to rule out anything major. The tech returned to the room and tried handing me the cup to collect the urine myself at home. I asked if she had tried collecting it as I work 12+ hour shifts and am only going to prolong the process of getting answers on my pet’s illness and could she please try…reluctantly, she agreed. A comment was also made about probably not being able to do the bloodwork, I again asked if they could please try as I was concerned and reiterated that my cat tells you she doesn’t like what you’re doing but has never done anything bad at the vet other than hiss/growl and I’ve had her her entire life. Interestingly, they were able to collect both the blood & urine samples that day. I understand being cautious around disgruntled animals, but it made me feel like this tech didn’t want to/shouldn’t work with cats. When I am leaving, the vet tells me they will call me with my results in a couple of days. 4 days later, I had yet to hear from anyone at the clinic. I then called to ensure I would be contacted with the results and was told my vet was on vacation for several days. I had to ask if another vet could look at the results and call me back with information so I wouldn’t have to wait. I then proceed to get a call with bad news - her bloodwork showed multiple concerns, her RBC/WBC and hematocrit levels in particular. I was told to watch her coloring (which was not noted as bad in her physical exam) and that I may have to take her to get a blood transfusion over the weekend at an ER due to her newly diagnosed moderate anemia. I was told they wanted to schedule me in for imaging later that week to check for tumors/cancer as her results alluded to potentially something more serious going on - crazy to think they were comfortable enough with these bad results to sit on them until the return of “my” vet from time off while I may have to rush her to an ER?? I was prescribed 2 medications - I then got a call 10 or so mins later that one of the medications was actually going to need to be filled elsewhere as the product they had on hand was expired. I get things happen, but it again was just adding to an already not great experience. The news of these results did not sit right with me, so I reached out to another vet to get a second opinion. This vet has the ability to run CBC in-house and proceeded with running more bloodwork as the vet noted there are possibilities for inaccuracies when sending off to a lab for tests/wanted to rule that out to confirm what we were truly dealing with. Miraculously, all of her results came back as normal - her hematocrit level nearly 2x that of what VCA provided. I was told this was one of the things he wanted to rule out as the sample can clump, causing inaccurate results across several test areas. Of course I was EXTREMELY relieved my pet was found to be fine with nothing more than maybe a parasite, but I was even more upset with how my situation was handled at VCA. If there are known possibilities for bad blood results when sending off tests to a lab and this animal had zero known prior issues, why was the immediate decision to potentially put the owner and pet through thousands of dollars of testing/trauma instead of suggesting a second round of bloodwork be done at a clinic who could do their own CBC tests to either verify or rule out the results? Let me not forget to mention, it has been over a week and half since I got the call about the concerning results and no one has contacted me to check on my animal and/or confirm next steps for anything. Safe to say, we won’t be back.
