The medical portion of my appointment was fine, but I was very uncomfortable with how socially loose the staff were about handling my young cat. A year old from the shelter, equally loose estimate of eight months according to the clinic. Staff asked once if they could take her to the back so other employees could see her, which I allowed. After that, however, it seemed like my initial permission was treated as ongoing permission to continue taking her around. They were giving her Churu treats and using them to coax/distract her while people in the back met and handled her. Later, after I had made it clear that I was exhausted and that we really needed to leave, another employee came in excitedly saying that someone else in the back would want to see my cat, and staff were again ready to take her back rather than wrapping up the appointment. I understand being excited about a cute young cat, and I don’t think anyone intended harm. But enthusiasm does not replace asking the owner before taking an animal away for a non-medical reason. I would prefer staff ask each time and keep pets with their owners unless there is a medical reason for them to leave the exam room. I also didn’t appreciate being addressed as “sweetie,” particularly in an interaction where I already felt like decisions involving my cat were being made around me rather than directly with me. Again, I had no major complaint about the actual medical care, but the handling and boundary culture at this particular location made me uncomfortable enough that I would use another VCA location or another veterinary clinic in the future.

Made an appointment 2 days ago with Dr Woods. Got a free first exam certificate. We just left the office after being cared for by Stephanie and Dr. Woods. We were seen promptly by 2 very kind and professional practitioners. Dr. Woods answered all our questions and took her time with us. Stephanie was efficient and we felt very comfortable with her.

Terrible communication. Predatory prices. Left there knowing less and my baby doing much worse than when we went in. Despite dropping $1200. Didnt send me home with the panel results as promised, didnt even get them to my vet as promised three days later. Had to beg for a follow up call. Which was the one good part when the vet, unfamiliar with our case, pulled through. But the rest of the experience, terrible. Our fur babies deserve better, VCA. Do better.
