I am extremely disappointed with the care Murrayhill Animal Hospital provided to our senior pet. She was diagnosed with bone cancer, a condition that is extremely painful. Despite this, she was not given any pain medication, and I had to watch her suffer unnecessarily. The veterinarian did not print or email any instructions for our pet’s palliative care.
We trusted the veterinarians at Murrayhill Animal Hospital to provide compassionate, humane care, especially for an elderly pet/family member, facing a terminal diagnosis. Unfortunately, that trust was broken. Pain management is a basic part of veterinary care, and withholding it caused our pet to suffer immense pain. Veterinarian care is very expensive and we paid to get the best care and advice for our pets, Murrayhill failed miserably.
We would also like to recommend that Murrayhill reconsiders their euthanasia practices. It was very disturbing and disrespectful of Murrayhill to put a cat to sleep right next door to us, when our pet was having a checkup. We will never forget that poor cat meowing in a very loud stressful cry, and then having to witness the owners of the cat, an elderly couple leave crying and completely devastated.
If your pet is having surgery and you receive a phone call the night before from the front desk, for pre-surgery instructions, please ask to speak to a technician that understands the instructions. We were not given the correct information before our pet’s surgery and this caused us and our pet extreme stress, because it delayed our pet’s surgery. I told the Veterinarian about this, and she said “oh, the front desk doesn’t know how to read the instructions” and just shrugged it off. Murrayhill also made other mistakes with our other pet, but there are just too many to list, so we made the decision to change veterinarians and get the proper care that our pets deserve.
Please do your research if your pet has a terminal illness and ensure that they are getting the proper treatment and especially pain medication. We paid a lot of money, to get the proper care for our senior pet and she suffered, which was totally unnecessary.
We hope this feedback encourages Murrayhill Animal Hospital to prioritize comfort and quality of life for future patients, especially those at the end of life and provide better training to their personnel. No pet should have to endure what ours did, or the grief that we suffered. I accidentally gave two stars and meant to only give a one star rating!

I have had a lot of dogs in my life, which means lots of vets. This place is absolutely the best vet I have ever been to. The staff is so incredible. Every single one. The communication, friendliness and following up is wonderful. Both of my dogs enjoy coming here.

We’ve brought our babies here for over 10 years. They are the most compassionate and caring people in veterinary medicine.

On the higher price point side but you get what you pay for. And I want the best care for my dog. I’ve had nothing but the best experiences here.

I started going here several years ago with a sick cat who turned out to have cancer. Dr. Liz Hardesty was so nice and helpful. We wanted to try a chemo drug suggested by my vet sister, and Dr. Hardesty made sure we understood it might not take, and definitely didn't push the more expensive route and ultimately was concerned about his comfort. He didn't make it.
Several months later we got a young dog and made sure to ask for Dr. Hardesty. I'm sure there are many wonderful doctors here, but she is special to me. I appreciate her honesty and compassion, and she tells me what she thinks is unnecessary and why. I am glad to keep coming here in happier times.
