  Worse emergency clinic experience ever. I called them 10 mins before arrival to check how long the wait would be because VEG from carle place has a 2 hours wait time and the receptionist said there’s no wait. We waited over 1.5 hours to be seen for less than 5 mins with the doctor. My baby could’ve stayed at VEG for a better experience and care.

  First, I want to thank the two people who showed me nothing but kindness and compassion the moment I walked through the door—Daniela and Sam at the front desk. You both were wonderful, and I truly appreciate the way you treated me during such a stressful situation. Unfortunately, my overall experience with this hospital was extremely disappointing. Emergency veterinary care needs to come with empathy, compassion, and clear communication—not guilt or judgment. I won’t be bringing any pets here again . Don’t recommend.

  We are new to using VCA. After my 6 year old German Shepherd was diagnosed with Lymphona we were referred to Dr.Linderman. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He is treating my girl and she is doing wonderful. He is kind with my dog, very thorough with explaining what is going on and what to look out for that week. He answers emergency texts and gives me peace of mind if I think something might be up. The staff here are wonderful. Daniella is very helpful at the front desk. Samantha is a wonderful tech and she is so gentle with my dog when she brings her back for bloodwork. I also had to bring my other shepherd in for a UTI in the middle of the night and we saw Dr.Danielle Pecora, I hope that’s how you spell and say it. She was wonderful. SO friendly and gave my dog the best treatment to make her feel comfortable because she has a lot of anxiety. She was very helpful in explaining what to do and how to administer meds. It was a quick ER visit and went very smoothly. I never usually have to wait long when I bring my other dog for chemo. We’re in and out in about 25-30 minutes which is great. Although I’m sad to have to bring my dog here for cancer treatment, I’m very grateful to be bringing her here to VCA to Dr.Linderman and for a wonderful ER hospital as well just in case. Thanks to everyone at the VCA! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  If there would be an option for negative stars than that would be my response. I came here on the recommendation of my vet as I faced an emergency situation with my 3 yrs old pup. My dog was in need of help to be put on an IV to bring his fever down and take a C-scan to find out the underlying reason. He's epileptic and increased stress can be a trigger for his seizure. Despite me keep repeating this, they immediately separated us that placed my pup under enormous stress. I also told them that due to the type of epilepsy he has, he CANNOT be sedated. I wrote it on the form and told everyone. With complete disregard to all my warnings, they sedated him anyway. In response to my protest, they waived me off like a pest that they can reverse the sedative. I was told that they found two tumors in his chest but neglected to show or share the image with me. Literally within 15-20 minutes they told me that my pup's condition turned dire. They started to push for him to stay overnight that would have run a $5000 tab. When I told them that I'm not leaving him behind, they started to push the most aggressive way to put him down right than and there. Aside that my emotions were in turmoil, I couldn't understand if they deemed his condition fatal then why pushing for an overnight stay? All the way until we checked out, they tried to make me feel and look like a monster for taking him home. To pursue me putting Obi down, they took me to see him. I barely could recognize my pup. He was shaved on both his side, needle wholes in both of his side, blood everywhere around him, he was besides himself and in an obvious sedated state. He couldn't even recognize me. The scene resembled more of a butcher shop than a medical facility. When they finally brought him out, he still seemed to be under sedation and looked half dead. Not resembling the dog I arrived with half an hour prior. My pup confirmed that indeed, he wanted to be home. Half way during the ride he sat up in the car. Came out of the car on his own when we got home and walked in the yard. Within half an hour he passed in our living room without the sedation ever fully wearing off. Only God knows what happened between the time I checked him in and out since I wasn't permitted to be by his side. Unfortunately, I learned the hardest way possible how little this place cares about the animals brought here. I know that while he was sick, the added stress and sedation sped his condition up and potentially robbed him of the extra weeks or months he may have had with us if indeed the diagnoses was correct. Under no condition would I ever use this facility for any of my pets. I'm beating myself up for not having the frame of mind to immediately turn around and find another clinic. But they successfully snuffed the life out of a 3 yrs old dog that left unimaginable pain in our heart. UPDATE: The doctor who treated Obi doesn't even have the decency to talk to me. As I learned in the recent days, the tumor wasn't as big as originally stated. Evidently there was no fluid in his chest cavity as nothing came out with the tap. Their theory of internal bleeding is also highly questionable as after passing, not one drop of blood escaped Obi. Which brings the question - WHAT MY DOG DIED FROM???? I doubt that ever receive an honest answer for it as most likely it would require an admission of malpractice.

  VCA Westbury is truly an extraordinary, specialized emergency facility. They saved our dog’s life. When we arrived at the hospital with Logan , he was going into shock from consuming a massive amount of oral minoxidil- which is lethally toxic to dogs and cats. We called ahead, and triage saw us within minutes of walking in the door, immediately bringing him in for assessment. Their team is AMAZING. Dr.Sylvane is brilliant. Her innovative care of Logan is updating and changing the Toxicology Protocol for veterinary treatment of minoxidil poisoning! She was pivotal in his recovery. Dr.Kartsonas is sharp, full of energy and dialed in to his patients. His early intervention one night pulled Logan back from heart failure. Dr.Federlin supported our family with compassion while giving care to Logan on the overnights. Dr.Gerber helped us in our transition to home, she was wonderfully kind and insightful with detailing his plan and individualized instructions. Dr. Ali communicated with toxicology on our arrival for resuscitative treatment. Huge thank you to their awesome Vet Technician/Nursing team- Toni, Nathalli, Juliette, and Natalia were fantastic in caring for Logan who was critically ill for days. Treating my family with grace and compassion during our many check up phone calls and visits. Toni was kind, supportive and informative even when we visited in the middle of the night. Juliette was gentle and attentive to Logan- he loved her. Ella at the front desk is so sweet, loving and helpful we enjoyed meeting her and Jolene. Nancy the service coordinator was on hand to help guide us through the emergency process with kindness and much needed humor. I know there are many others who aided in Logan’s care, thank you all! We are extremely grateful for the stellar care we received at VCA Westbury. The only aspect I would alter was there was a delay in actual immediate treatment. After they took Logan into the back he was assessed and we though being treated for his critical emergency but before anything was started Dr.Ali came in to discuss cost of treatment, then sign papers and then go to the front desk to pay before they actually begin treatment. This was large delay as our dog was going into shock. I do see the need to address cost early on, because some people are probably not aware of the thousands of dollars involved in emergency treatments. However every minute counts when a patient is literally going into cardiovascular collapse! Pre-paying shouldn’t delay initial critical treatment.
