I had a very frustrating experience with the Geek Squad at Crossgates Mall in Albany.
On my first visit, I was told the technician had to leave early, so they couldn’t repair my phone. While it was inconvenient, I understood that unexpected situations happen.
I scheduled a second appointment and drove 40 minutes back to the store, only to be told that the technician didn’t have enough time to complete the repair. They then suggested I should have booked an earlier appointment, as if I was supposed to know their internal scheduling limitations. If later appointments can’t be accommodated, that should be made clear when customers schedule them.
To make matters worse, I was told that for my third appointment, they “might or might not” have the replacement part in stock. After making two unnecessary 40-minute trips, it’s unacceptable that they still can’t confirm they’ll have what’s needed to complete the repair.
This experience has been a complete waste of my time and gas. I expected much better communication and organization from Geek Squad. Customers shouldn’t have to make multiple long trips because of poor scheduling and inventory planning.

Just went in to get my zag cover on my iPhone 17 replaced because it has an unlimited replacement policy but the geek squad manager said there’s an eight dollar charge when the last six times I brought the phone in. They installed it for free and made no mention of any charge. It’s not the fact of eight dollars. It’s the fact that six times I came and replaced my screen protector, and there was no charge or mention of a charge and all of a sudden this manager wants to act like he’s Mr. Best Buy and he owns the place and enforce rules and he said from Here on out I’m ending your free replacement. Maybe spend a little less time talking about your weekend plans with your coworkers and spend a little more time managing and enforcing the rules.
How is it that the last six times I got my screen replaced in the last year. There was no mention of a charge and all of a sudden you’re enforcing a policy I’ve never heard of. I asked him to go ahead and have it installed for free as a courtesy he said no so now I’m expressing my frustration so others can see how they treat their customers. I even asked him to look up the last six times I got that replaced how much they charged me for install. He said it doesn’t matter. They weren’t doing their job. I believe a manager’s job is to make sure the employees are doing their job so I guess this is just a shitty manager.

I hope I can give a zero star rating.
I would like to upgrade my small SSD boot drive to a larger one. But I would like to clone the small one to the larger one so after replacement, I do not need to re-install anything. I called the customer service of Geek Squad Team, and they confidently told me they can do this. So I made an appointment with our local Geek Squad Team, spent quite long time to drive to there, and went to the appointment on time. However, the technician of the local Geek Squad Team told me they do not know how to do that. I said your customer service told me you guys can do this, so I scheduled this appointment. They rudely told me "those people always tell customers we can do this and we can do that, which are not true". So I wasted a lot of time driving there but got no service. I would like to know who was lying, the customer service of Geek Squad Team, or the local Geek Squad Team? I will no longer trust Best Buy and the service they provide.
