  Just moved here. Took our 5 year old cat for a routine check up and med refill. (Free first visit) Dr gave sample meds ($40) and had to reschedule for shots for blood work. Really unnecessary but they wouldn’t give a full prescription without it. She been taking Gabapentin for 2 years now and helps calm her stress and anxiety through the day. Never an issue with my vet in Denver. They wanted to set that second appointment to charge me $400 to confirm what the last Dr already has confirmed. Sounds like a money thing. The worse part is her meds were 4 days short and they wouldn’t give her the extra 4 days. Said the Dr said she wants to wait for the blood work. Not a good med to just stop cold turkey. I asked them if they cared how my cat would feel. They said sorry we will need blood work first. (And $400) next day in another Vet and my cat on her meds with full check up and full proscription. $68 at Sun City, super caring there and thorough. Find a better option Pet lovers. Moving here to Summerlin it’s not budget, it’s pet care and principle.

  I just want to thank the dr that seen my dog a realized something was wrong with one of her paws .. all though I took my pet in for something else..she went in a straightening up for me my dog is doing so much better with her walking.. your a life saver

  I brought my new puppy here for his initial exam and vaccines and took advantage of the complimentary first exam offer. The staff and doctors were friendly and professional, and the visit itself was smooth. Unfortunately, the pricing completely changed my opinion of this practice. I was quoted over $350 for a simple 4-week follow-up consisting of 1 booster vaccine, a canine influenza vaccine, a heartworm test, and a routine puppy reassessment. After comparing prices with another veterinarian for the exact same services, I discovered every item was significantly cheaper elsewhere. What really rubbed me the wrong way was learning that VCA requires a 50% deposit before the appointment. Requiring customers to pay half of an already inflated bill upfront for routine preventive care is excessive and feels more focused on maximizing profits than providing affordable care for pets. The “free exam” may get you in the door, but be prepared for sticker shock afterward. There is absolutely no justification for charging these prices when other veterinarians provide the same vaccines and testing for substantially less. I appreciate the kindness of the staff, but the pricing and deposit requirements are unacceptable. I will be taking my business elsewhere and encourage other pet owners to compare costs before committing to VCA.

  I had a bunch of positive experiences at this place. Today, with a doctor that my cats haven't seen before, Dr. Mike Boling... infuriatingly... the visit was not pleasant at all. I wanted my cat examined with an ultrasound to see if she was possibly pregnant. This was discussed over the phone when scheduling the appointment. I had verbally asked the doctor, "can we please just do the ultrasound" and questioned him why he is squeezing her stomach like crazy. (Fearing that he was causing a forced miscarriage). He disregarded me, continued squeezing away, and wanted to argue back making me feel like I have no entitlement for safe practices for my little Mew. His excuse, I need to check by squeezing her to see if she's pregnant. When he was done, I asked... "is she pregnant?" Dr. Mike Boling, "I don't know we will have to do an ultrasound." He played the whole interaction between us as if I was the aggressor and as if I was dumb. I was completely uncomfortable with him squeezing her, Mew's eyes were wider than I had ever seen when he was done squeezing her. I was infuriated because it shows that he won't listen to a dang thing that I have to say. Other doctors at this VCA and other nurses at this VCA have been true caregivers to my babies. I didn't want to argue with Dr. Mike Boling, but I was put on the defense. I asked the nurse if she could let go of my other babies, Sunday, because he was 100% uneasy with her handling. He was hissing and even kind of growling. I tolder her that I'll keep him calm. She listened and let go for a second while I held him to calm him but then went right back and squeezed the back of his neck again which was already making him uneasy. He will bite and I didn't want them being the reason. She got defensive when I tried shooing her hand away quickly to keep Sunday calm. I understand, you didnt appreciate me doing that, but I had already asked you to stop. I had already tried asking the Dr. if he could stop as well. Nobody in that room, at that time, wanted to listen. So I told them that "this is the type of crap that some doctors do to prescribe children with ADHD medication when they don't have ADHD." And no, I don't want Sunday's medication switched Dr. Mike Boling. I shouldn't have to feel like I have to put up a fight for my cats in order for them to get the care that they need. I felt like they wanted to reign supreme over me and take advantage of Mew and Sunday. I'm the parent. The caregiver. Mew and Sunday are family to me. In difficult or obstructed deliveries, vets will safely intervene (or perform a C-section) rather than manually squeezing the abdomen. I only left this review to again, help other people who have pets in their family. Not wanting to listen to me made me feel like it was discrimination. Now I don't even know if I can trust them taking my babies in the back without my oversight... It's a crappy feeling.
