This place is horrible. Went there with my dog Xena for a stool exam to check for parasites. They took a look at the poop and said all was ok. Didnt tell me my dog was pregnant and they charged me almost $300 for just a look at her. She did have a parasitic infection which was treated by another vet and 3 weeks after her visit to this place. She was in labor. Dr. Calle was the vets name. I tried calling VCA headquarters and they didn't care to call back or answer the phone. Don't waste your time with a corporate veterinarian. It's all about money not the pets well being.

Very disappointed with the care my dog received here by vet Sing. My dog was in pain, whimpering, and not moving normally, yet the visit felt rushed and surface-level. I repeatedly had to advocate for a more thorough evaluation and even push to have X-rays done instead of simply being sent home with pain meds and told to rest.
Less than 24 hours later, I ended up at the emergency vet because his condition was not properly addressed. I understand not every issue has an immediate diagnosis, but I do expect attentiveness, thoroughness, and genuine concern when an animal is clearly uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

I will never bring my dog back to VCA Rutherford. My pup had an ear infection since December that consistently worsened under their care. Every visit cost me at least $200 for repetitive ear cytologies and flushes, yet they completely failed to address the root cause. Instead of fixing the problem, the vet gave up, told me the medication wouldn't work, and tried to pass my less-than-2-year-old dog off to an expensive dermatologist.
I finally went to a new vet who immediately solved the issue with proper antifungals, anti-inflammatories, and drops. VCA Rutherford is a money trap that cares more about stacking up fees than actually healing pets. Avoid this place.

Until Dr. Tancredi and especially Dr. Petrone left this practice, I wouldn’t have dreamed of going anywhere else for my spicy kitties’ health and medical needs. Both doctors are OUTSTANDING practitioners and human beings, and the staff was always supportive and lovely and very caring and compassionate. My cat Lilly lived to almost 23 years under their and my care! I’m working on my third book, and I even detail how acutely important this hospital was to Lilly’s well-being and amazing longevity.
Having taken my new little cat Cecilia to see the new medical director and her henchwomen techs several months ago, I can say it felt like going to a stranger’s place with robots instead of people. Why? Nobody gave a damn (except about the fee). Céci’s got major fear aggression, even on Gabapentin, which I’d given her the night before and the morning of our afternoon appointment. So the folks there knew going in that the child is an extra-spicy ghost pepper. Nevertheless, the vet was chilly, had an indifferent bedside manner, and barely examined my cat. When I pointed this out, she said, “She’s fine. She’s strong. Bye.” — and just left the room in a pissy huff. Never again. After patronising and trusting this business for more than two DECADES, this is how you treat me and my baby? Yeah, I don’t think so. I guess these robots don’t need my business or care about my Cecilia. That’s okay. Plenty of competition in Bergen County for the same dollars. So disappointing.
