  We have been bringing our parrots to Edgebrook Animal Hospital for at least fifteen years. The care our birds have received from Dr. Slade and the staff has been exceptional and we can highly recommend him to anyone for the care of their pets.

  I had such a positive experience bringing my 17 year old cat in for his dental surgery. I was understandably nervous because he is older and has a history of health issues, but the entire team made me feel reassured and comfortable throughout the process. Everyone was so kind, compassionate, and patient with both Domino and me. As a pet parent, leaving your animal for surgery can be incredibly stressful, but the staff and Dr. Slade gave me peace of mind knowing Domino was in good hands. I’m so grateful for the care he received and for how wonderful everyone was throughout the entire experience.

  Negligent and unacceptable care at this practice. I brought my 17-year-old cat—a regular patient here—to a 10:45 AM appointment with worsening terminal kidney disease symptoms, pain, and a wobbly gait. During the exam, she passed heavily bloody urine for the first time ever. The doctor took labs, gave fluids and antibiotics, and told me he wanted to wait for the in-house lab results before prescribing pain meds. I paid $838 and left, assured I’d hear back by the afternoon. What followed was an absolute breakdown in care and communication. At 1:52 PM, I called because she was worsening and passing more blood. I was told the doctor would call back shortly. No call. At 3:45 PM, I called again, stressed that it was urgent. Again, no advice, just a promise of a call back. Finally, at 4:07 PM, my daughter called to say we were driving over. Despite being told they would let the doctor know and prepare, we were left waiting in the parking lot for 40 minutes, and another 35 minutes in the exam room. When the vet tech finally walked in, he asked if we were there for a "recheck" and had no idea why we were there. When the doctor finally saw us, he gave us the lab results but avoided the hard truth. I had to explicitly ask, "What would you do if she was your cat?" Only then did he admit he would euthanize her. My beloved cat suffered needlessly for hours because this clinic underestimated the severity of the situation and failed to communicate. The morning appointment should have been enough to know what was needed. Negligence, incompetence, or both? She was euthanized at 6:31 PM. I am heartbroken, broke (after an additional $623 for euthanasia and cremation), and feel deeply betrayed. I overlooked minor issues over the years (missing chart updates, unreturned calls on minor labs, etc...) because I trusted them. In our moment of greatest need, that trust was completely broken.

  If I could give Dr. Slade and the ENTIRE team at VCA Edgebrook Animal Hospital 100 stars I would. My entire experience was nothing but amazing and I couldn't be more grateful for the kindness, empathy and professionalism displayed by everyone I encountered during my visits. My dog LJ is an eight pound Pomeranian who broke his leg in 3 places. We had initially taken him to a another well known animal hospital in which we were quoted $9,000 for a "necessary" surgery we must get immediately. I was in shock and came to Edgebrook for a second opinion as my older dog Ace had gone there when he was a puppy, and my boy friend's dog had just had her ACL surgery and was healing wonderfully. I knew they had the capability to perform certain operations, and I am so glad I got that second opinion. Dr. Slade is a miracle worker that healed my dogs leg back through casting and monitoring. Beyond that Dr. Slade was truly understanding of my financial situation, and this route was significantly more affordable while making sure my beloved pet received the care they needed. Our experience at Edgebrook Animal Hospital was truly one that was lead with compassion and dignity. I reccommend everyone come here in the Central Jersey area, as they have a highly capable and trained team. From the moment you walk in the doors and are greeted in the front desk, or whether you're speaking with a technician or Dr. Slade, the whole experience is wonderful. Dr. Slade and his staff work tirelessly, providing a level of care that has been unmatched by any veterinarian team I have experienced in my life. You can tell how much they all truly love animals. Thank you all for healing our LJ again!
