The staff were generally nice people, but if you have a cat, go literally *anywhere* else. Go to the VCA in Cary rather than this one. They traumatized our cat, making vet visits even more stressful for her. She's inexplicably terrified of anything that sounds like a plastic bag after her final visit. They would not let us handle her during visits because of "liability/insurance concerns" (okay, I'll sign a waiver - "oh we don't do that") despite the fact that she is far less hostile when I handle her in high-stress situations. They failed to communicate that the Hill's ID food was only needed temporarily, but were happy to continue selling us the marked up bags of this expensive food for years beyond the need without telling us. They also were extremely bad about consolidating appointments. We'd call ahead of an appointment and check, "is there anything else needed in the future that we can also do during this appointment (to limit stress)?" and they repeatedly failed - we'd receive a post card the following month saying she's due for X/Y/Z. This happened multiple times with our cat and our dog. Also, because our cat is spicy, they had us give her gabapentin *the night before* and the morning of an appointment so she'd be zonked out. The problem was, after giving it to her the night before, she knew we'd put something in her food and she refused to eat the gaba in the morning. Moving forward, we asked them if there was another sedative that could be used. "No." When we received our records, we saw that they'd put on her records that the "owner was confused as to why gabapentin was needed." No, we were not confused. We know our cat is spicy and what gabapentin does to the nervous system. *They* were confused as to why a kitty cat figured out how to avoid its effects. We thought giving it the night before was a dumb calculation on their part even before we did it, and indeed it was a dumb calculation, but *we* were confused? No no. Apparently this VCA never heard of Trazodone. Also, and this isn't their fault, but turning left out of there onto 55 is a nightmare most of the time. Go elsewhere. There are far better places and absolutely pleased with our new vet.
Edit: FYI, we have not been clients of this location since 2024.

This is an amazing place to take our dogs to. We moved, otherwise we’d keep using them! The staff is fantastic and the care club is a no brainer.

I can’t recommend this animal hospital enough. I needed USDA APHIS certificates for both of my dogs for international travel, and they made what could have been a stressful process feel completely seamless. Their pricing was the most reasonable I found, but what truly stood out was their incredible attention to detail and genuine care.
They went above and beyond at every step - even sending me direct text updates with behind-the-scenes processing information I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to see. That level of transparency and dedication gave me so much peace of mind.
You can tell they truly care about both the pets and their owners. A special thank you to Dr. Trager and the entire team for their outstanding support - I’m so grateful for everything you did and wouldn’t hesitate to trust you again.

Excellent staff! Excellent Doctors. I highly recommend this establishment. Each time I needed an emergency appointment, they accommodated me, from the front desk staff to the doctors; each person showed compassion for my pet. They are very through when explaining the care of my pet, and pricing is always addressed before treatment. Again, I highly recommend ACA animal hospital ( Apex)!

I thought perhaps getting squeezed in for my dog's euthanasia would not be a huge issue. But sadly, it was rushed through like the vet had dinner reservations or a hot date. We kind of expected at least some sympathy but there was none. The shots came all within 1 minute basically, we had no time to really love, hold and pet on her before she was gone. Had I know it would be like that, I would have taken my dog elsewhere. It's been nothing short of heartbreaking to think back and know how we were treated at that most vulnerable time. I'm still in tears and it's been nearly 2 days.
