Unfortunately, the membership plan has not been a good fit for us. We expected more coverage, especially after paying more than $600 for our puppy’s plan, but many basic items, including tests, are not covered.
We also found the care model difficult. Our puppy did not consistently see the same vet, and we were told we could not choose one vet and continue care with that provider.
Another concern was communication. Some extra -not covered and up to $60+ each- testing was completed without clear communication and our permission, and we were not made aware in advance that our puppy would need monthly deworming medications. I received that information from a friend, and I had to contact the VCA and make sure they will be providing it moving forward. The cost also felt much higher than expected. One pill at VCA was $40, while a pack of 4 appears to cost about the same at stores.
As a part of our plan, a person via chat can answer any questions we have, but they do not have access to our dog information. So it unhelpful. In fact, we booked a vaccination via chat and when arrived at the VCA the vet said that he was not ready.
Overall, our experience left us uncomfortable and disappointed. Based on what happened, we do not recommend VCA.
