PLEASE READ!!! After 7 days with a new kitten with TONS of energy, we found him one morning unable to wake up or hold his bowels. We immediately took him to VCA Animal “Hospital” in Plainfield. The tech up front sarcastically said, “well… he is awake…” followed by the veterinarian accusing us of having drugs lying around that the kitten ingested. We told her that there were absolutely no drugs in our home. The vet said if we felt the need to “flush him out quicker,” we could take him to a different hospital for an IV. We took the kitten to IndyVet where we were received by an incredibly passionate team that tried everything they could think of to save his life. The kitten had a terminal illness in the brain that couldn't be fixed and we ended up losing him. Looking back on the encounter, I truly believe that the staff at VCA knew there was something worse wrong with my kitten and didn’t want to deal with it. The complete lack of urgency, unnecessary sarcasm, and blatant lack of concern is absolutely baffling to me. I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this place if you truly care about your pets.

Quick and efficient service. We needed an emergency evaluation for a dog. They were unable to treat her as they didnt have access to radiology this day, due to technical issues. We were evaluated, diagnosed and referred.

After going to here for 30+ years, I am sorry to say we are leaving. Took our dog to be checked for possible UTI infection yesterday. The male technician needs some training. No introduction, not very specific with ascertaining our concern. After a brief, 2 minute exam from the vet, our dog was taken for a urine sample. The same technician returned and opened the door saying he has some bad news. We were shocked not knowing what was coming. He could not get a sample was the bad news! That was it! We left with a $75.00 bill which I thought was a bit steep. I’m sorry that the service is just not the same. By the way, Erin was great! Additionally: I feel I need to tell you that the next day, after 2 emergency care vets, our dog was diagnosed with a severe UTI and small crystals in her bladder. She is on antibiotics for 14 days, pain killers and specialized food. If we hadn’t acted I hate to think of the consequences. I’ve had wonderful experiences here. I hope it improves.

I’m very disappointed with my experience at VCA Animal Hospital of Plainfield. As a first-time dog owner, I came in with a lot of questions during my puppy’s initial vaccination visits, which I think is completely normal. Unfortunately, each time I asked something that may have seemed “basic,” I could hear staff in the back talking and laughing about it. Whether intentional or not, it was clearly audible and made me feel uncomfortable and judged. After three visits with the same experience, I decided to switch to a different vet. A welcoming and respectful environment is important, especially for new pet owners trying to learn. I was also not a fan of my puppy being taken to the back for routine vaccinations without explanation. At the time, I didn’t realize I could request this to be done in the room, but at my new vet, they gave me that option right away, which made a big difference in comfort and transparency. Also, my puppy is way less timid when I’m in the room. Overall, this was not an enjoyable experience, and I would not recommend this location as a regular vet based on how I was treated. Also, this vet is recommended as a low cost vet, and they were more expensive then my current vet…
