  I literally can not say enough good things about this clinic .. it starts from the front desk staff to the back staff and every vet … absolutely wonderful experience again .. thank you guys got bring such a wonderful team

  My experience with VCA North Idaho Animal Hospital was not what I had hoped for. I found the cost of the visit to be very expensive, and I was not particularly impressed with the level of care or communication during the initial exam. Ultimately, I decided not to continue bringing my animal here after that first visit and chose to look elsewhere for veterinary care.

  I am utterly horrified by the treatment we received at VCA North Idaho Animal Hospital and will never bring my business here again.While camping in July, my puppy swallowed a 1.5-inch cat toy. Terrified for her safety, we texted this clinic beforehand, explained the emergency, and asked if they could see her right away. They explicitly told us yes, their urgent care was open.We arrived and were seated in the waiting room exactly one hour after she swallowed the toy. For the entire duration of our visit, we were the only people sitting in that waiting room. Despite this, a staff member explained their wait policy—which is posted on signs all over the place—reminding us that they handle things case-by-case.We sat there completely ignored for another full hour. Knowing that the two-hour mark is critical before a foreign object moves into the intestines, I politely went to the front desk to ask for a time update, mentioning we were now at that critical two-hour window since she swallowed it. The receptionist said she would check on the doctor.A few minutes later, a woman (who I assume was the doctor) walked into the waiting room in a visible huff. Instead of offering medical concern, she immediately began berating me about their wait policy, angrily stating they had "many other people" and that we had only been there for an hour. When I tried to clarify that I meant it had been two hours since she swallowed the toy and that I just wished we had been told how busy they were, she got even angrier and kept aggressively repeating the policy at me.Distressed, I asked if there was another hospital nearby we could go to instead. This is when she straight-up lied to my face. She told me "no" and claimed I would have to drive hours away to Coeur d'Alene if I wanted another clinic. I walked out of the building sobbing, genuinely believing my puppy was going to die because of their lack of care and dishonesty.Thank goodness my partner immediately looked at their phone and found Fry Creek Animal Clinic just 10 minutes away. They saw us immediately, took X-rays, and the incredibly kind staff saved my puppy. She ended up safely throwing up the toy and is perfectly healthy now.To top it all off, VCA texted me later that day—while we were already being treated at Fry Creek—to say a spot finally opened up. When I replied that we had left, they used it as another opportunity to lecture me on their wait policy. In the texts, they also tried to backtrack and cover for the vet, claiming she meant the nearest emergency clinic was in Coeur d'Alene. But that is absolutely not what happened. I explicitly asked about any other vet nearby, and she flat out said no.They showed zero compassion, lacked basic communication, and lied about neighboring clinics during a terrifying medical emergency. Avoid this place if you love your pets.

  Was a wonderful experience dealing with the professionalism and people that really care about your precious pets. The whole crew was totally awesome. And I can't say enough good things about dr. Paulsen! He preformed extracapsular repair on both rear knees of my dog and they came out phenomenal! A very, very reasonable price. And the outcome has been better than could hope for. Big thank you to the whole, very professional and caring crew
