Amazing services and great staff, Annette was the best! Same goes for the rest of the staff. Only concern was the amount of “FEAR” meds prescribed to my dog for a doctors visit. 400mg of Gabapentin and 300mg of Trazodone for my 70lb dog is concerning. A single one of those for 160lb human puts them down for hours, I’d proceed with caution on those.

Took my daughter's cat in for his yearly checkup, everyone there was very nice and friendly. Dr. Came in did his checkup told us he was fine and was out in just a few minutes.

Admittedly our older pet had had a heart murmur for some time and had been on medication for about two years. She developed a cough and we took her to vet next day. Vet insisted she be sedated to be X-ray-ed and take blood. We were not happy but did not know what else to do. After being gone for TWO HOURS, she came back barely awake. I asked if anything serious, vet said no, with usual disclaimer that anything can happen. We brought her home and she was gone within the hour. We had been dismissed with some info on emergency services. Had we been made aware she was that ill, we would have felt differently. We think she should not have been sedated if she was that critical, which vet should have known, and sedation led to hastening the outcome. Vet at VCA in Elijay took away a proper goodbye to our pet. She had no right. 04/16/2026 We were told the team that WAS handling the case will get back to us. Is it unreasonable to want to know why we were told our dear pet’s condition was not serious only to bring her home and be devastated and actually shocked when she slipped away before our eyes. Again, we thought her state was due to sedation.

My daughter was staying with us for several months while her home was being renovated. Her dog's nails needed trimming and a neighbor recommended Appalachian. Her regular vet sent all of the dogs records to Appalachian so the vet would be informed about the dog's medial condition and history. She was on time for her appointment and still waited for an hour. The nail trimming was preformed by a tech. The vet did make an appearance, but did nothing with her dog. The real kicker was the $200 bill for a tech trimming nails! I guess the vet saw this as an easy way to make some fast money on a customer that they will never see again.
