The staff at VCA are wonderful and very caring especially with my 16 year old cat. Dr. Davis always takes the time to explain her recommendations for treatment and is never pushy or over-treating.

Unreliable, even after paying an arm-and-a-leg. Look elsewhere in the city or choose a different location. Our family used the VCA in Sandy Springs for years with our first rescue dog, and we moved to this location after adding another rescue to our family and moving into the city. I originally called a made a wellness appointment for our eldest, along with a nail trim. We are never able to cut his nails at home, but he’s always allowed others to cut them (i.e. at vet appointments, baths, etc.). It’s clear that he was abused before coming to us, and he suffers pretty bad anxiety (even weighing 80lbs). I got a text about a waitlist appointment that became available later that afternoon which I took. The experience: We go into the exam room and complete the normal prerequisites with the tech. She informs me that the doctor had an unexpected emergency and she wasn’t sure how long they would be, but that she would check and come let me know. Over 20 minutes go by with my anxious dog and I waiting in the exam room without an update, and I decided to go out and ask for an update from the receptionists and to see if they could at least cut his nails while we wait for the doctor to finish. They replied that they would check to see which tech was available and let me know. **another 15-minutes go by without anyone coming into the exam room to update me (timing is crucial in my line of work, so I’m super aware of it at all times)** I then leave the exam room again because my anxious dog is shedding an insane amount, and to see if we could just reschedule our appointment for another date. As the receptionist is reviewing the calendar, the doctor is suddenly done and ready to complete our appointment. Following the consult it’s established that our dog needs a dental cleaning and also needs to be checked for heart worms before restarting medication, and a requirement for the cleaning is extensive bloodwork that includes all of his adult chemistry. The results take less than 24-hours, and I was supposed to receive a phone call the next day to review the results and also confirm that it is safe to give our dog his first dose of the heart worm medicine. This bloodwork was just under $400. Two days go by and I never received a phone call/email, so I call directly at the end of business. A tech confirms that it is safe to give our dog the first dose of medication, but that she can’t review any of the results (understandable). She said she would leave a note for Dr. Hill to call me back. Three more days go by, and I still had not received the results of the nearly $400 bloodwork, so I just called again. I was able to speak with Dr. Hill to confirm that our son is in fact healthy. The standard dental cleaning is also $1,100 (assuming no tooth extractions). After expressing my concerns to her and how research has shown this price is on the polar high-end, she stated that she would have someone follow-up with me on Monday. **I also need to mention that they were not able to completely cut my anxious dog’s nails (they’re not evenly cut, and they couldn’t cut any of his dewclaws), and this is due to making him wait nearly (3) hours.** I am not a review type person, but I felt the need to warn other pet owners about the 3-hour and overall negative experience we had here. It wasn’t in my weekend plans to do research on another reliable veterinary clinic to bring our family, but here we are.

For the past six years, VCA has been so much more to us than just a vet clinic. We started bringing our very first dog there when he was just a puppy, and ever since then, every single dog and cat we’ve loved has walked through their doors. Now, with four resident dogs, several cats, and countless foster dogs from local shelters, I can honestly say I trust them with the animals that mean the most to me in this world. About four years ago, we moved an hour to an hour and a half away, and the thought of changing vets genuinely made my stomach sink. That alone says everything. Most people would find somewhere closer, but when you find a veterinary team that makes you and your animals feel this safe, this heard, and this cared for, distance stops mattering. We gladly make the drive because the level of care they provide is something truly special. The staff feels like family at this point. From the front desk to the techs to the doctors, every single person is kind, patient, compassionate, and incredibly understanding. I have a highly reactive dog who needs special accommodations during appointments, and not once have they ever made me feel embarrassed, difficult, or rushed. They work with her so gently and thoughtfully that they take away all of the anxiety and fear that usually comes with vet visits. That kind of compassion is priceless. What stands out to me most is that they never make you feel like “just another appointment.” No matter how busy they are, they make you feel like your pet is the only patient there. They listen. They explain things thoroughly. They care not only about the animals, but also about the people who love them. As someone deeply involved in fostering shelter dogs, trust matters more than anything to me. I’ve brought many of my foster dogs there over the years because I know they will receive top notch care, patience, and genuine compassion. When you spend your life loving and advocating for animals, you realize very quickly that you cannot settle when it comes to veterinary care. You need a team that treats your pets like their own, and that is exactly what VCA has always done for us. There is just something special about this place. After six years, countless appointments, reactive dogs, medical fosters, emergencies, happy visits, and everything in between, they continue to exceed every expectation. I truly cannot say enough good things about them. We will keep making that long drive over and over again because they are worth every mile.
