  Yesterday my wife and I took our 2-year-old dog, Ivory, to VCA Cabrera for a checkup, allergy and influenza shots, and a few other things. We were taken care of by Gloria, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. She was a pleasure to talk to, and thoroughly explained everything Ivory was receiving and broke the costs down in a clear, simple way. Gloria has such a natural way with animals; Ivory felt completely safe while getting her shots. She went above and beyond to make the whole experience positive. The rest of the staff who helped with check-in and check-out were equally professional and welcoming, which clearly reflects the culture set by the owner, whom we also had the pleasure of meeting. We highly recommend this VCA location. Thank you for everything you do for the animals and their families.

  I wish I was leaving a positive post, since I had been going here for years. But the decline in level of care needs to be noted. My Sammy was under the care of Dr. Valentin and at first I was very happy with her care. She was very hands on and attentive. But as the years progressed the attention was less and less. The techs were asking all the questions and as I related all concerns none of them seemed to be getting to the Dr. A few yrs back I had to hold my dog and do the assessment myself, I Checked his ears and eyes at her request while she and her tech just stood there. Last year I again expressed concerns to the tech and he just commented that all that has to do with age. Dr came in gave him his rabies shot and walked out. Few months later I decided to take him to another vet since his symptoms were getting worse. To find out my dog had stage 4 Lymphoma. With one simple evaluation and one simple lab test we found out what the problem was. Unfortunately the cancer was too advanced and spread to other places so the vet recommended palliative care and Sam passed away a month later. If we would have caught it sooner maybe my dog would be with me today.

  I am devastated by what happened to my cat after his visit to VCA Cabrera Animal Hospital. I brought my cat, to this hospital for an examination and a Solensia injection. He was able to walk when he arrived at the hospital. After returning home from this appointment, he was unable to stand or walk and was dragging his hind legs. Because of the sudden and dramatic change in his condition, I took him to an emergency hospital, where X-rays revealed multiple pelvic fractures. The independent radiology report specifically states that the fracture involving the left acetabulum has “sharp margins that are very likely recent” and that the other fractures involving the left ischium and likely the left pubis are “likely associated with recent trauma as well.” The radiologist further concluded that these pelvic fractures are likely responsible for his current clinical signs. My cat is now unable to walk independently. He requires pain medication, strict confinement and assistance with basic needs, and I am having to pursue additional veterinary and orthopedic care. I am extremely concerned about what occurred during his examination and handling at this hospital. A cat who walked into the clinic came home unable to stand, and an emergency evaluation immediately afterward documented multiple fractures considered very likely recent. This has been an incredibly distressing experience, and I believe other pet owners should be aware of what happened to my cat. UPDATE AFTER ONE MONTH: I am adding this review because VCA Cabrera has stopped responding to my attempts to resolve this matter directly. My cat required major surgery after being injured following his appointment with Dr. Mark D. Leichty. I have repeatedly contacted the hospital regarding reimbursement for the substantial medical expenses I incurred as a result. Despite being fully aware of the seriousness of this matter, the hospital has chosen not to respond to my emails or provide any meaningful resolution. I gave VCA Cabrera every opportunity to address this privately and professionally. At this point, silence is not an acceptable response. When a client is left with thousands of dollars in surgical and follow-up veterinary expenses after a serious incident involving their animal, the hospital has a responsibility to address the matter—not simply stop communicating. I am still awaiting a direct response regarding reimbursement and resolution of this matter. I expect VCA Cabrera to address it.

  Dr. Valentin is the most magnificent veterinarian I have ever met! This location is the gem of Miami, due to her. My brother and I have been coming to this office for 11 wonderful years. On the few occasions that we have had emergencies, Dr. Valentin herself has spoken to us on the phone, and consoled and healed our Maltese, and us, expertly. Dr. Valentine is always so welcoming, caring, kind, considerate. She always remembers details about our dog, and our personal lives. She truly has a gift for bringing out the best in animals and people. We are so grateful to have met someone whose profession, clearly chose them!
