I’ll start by saying this was the worst retail experience I’ve ever had.
I went to the Best Buy at The Grove in Wesley Chapel because I was genuinely interested in buying an amplifier for home speakers and surround sound — specifically something in the 350W–500W range. After doing some research on my phone, I asked an employee for help. His response? “You should save your money and buy a set.” No explanation, no attempt to show me anything. Just dismissive. I couldn’t tell if he didn’t want to help me, or if he assumed I wasn’t going to buy anything. Either way, it felt rude and judgmental.
I decided to browse anyway — it had been years since I’d been inside a Best Buy since I usually shop online. I looked at consoles, PC storage, and picked up an “I Fix It” kit I wanted. Then I noticed a man circling me like a shark. Watching me. Pretending to look for something else. At one point he almost asked if I needed help — but didn’t. I walked away to see what he would do, and he followed me. Then stood there staring, suddenly very interested in thumb drives.
It became clear: he was watching to see if I still had the I Fix It kit in my hand. They assumed I was stealing.
I tried to lead him over to storage drives to test if he’d follow — he did. So I went straight to checkout and paid. Now I’m sitting here wanting to return everything and never give Best Buy another penny.
What it comes down to is this: I was judged by how I look. They clearly thought I was broke, suspicious, or both. I just wanted to browse and buy a few things, and instead I got followed, dismissed, and made to feel like a criminal. The smirk on that guy’s face when I caught him said it all — he knew what he was doing.
Best Buy, this is not how you treat customers. I’m hurt, bothered, and I won’t be back.

I am very pleased to share how satisfied I was with Seth. He appeared eager to help and patiently answered all my questions about the different surge protectors.
With his knowledge, he helped alleviate my concerns regarding the cords behind my entertainment system and explained the best approach to deal with this matter so everything is properly placed and safe.
I have been a customer of this store for many years and so far for me it does not disappoint. One of the things I like about it is that they always have staff at the front entrance to guide you to the right person who can assist.

The geek squad does not know what they’re doing. Would not recommend. I don’t know why it takes an hour to change an iPhone battery. And then the guy asked for my Apple password, but wasn’t specific about which Apple password. I think he meant the I-security one. Not the iCloud or iTunes. So now it’s a wasted trip because I would have to wait another hour to change my password and I have another appointment.

I have a defective Apple TV remote under warranty. Apple’s website directed me to the Best Buy facility as part of their “Genius Bar” customer service normally provided at Apple stores, I assumed Best Buy would have a similar level of expertise if Apple recommended it, assuming there must be some service agreement between the companies. I sign up with a 3 o’clock appointment time, explaining my issue with the remote online. I show up at the appointed time 3 o’clock, Sat April 25th and the customer service person says they are running behind and will get to me as soon as they can. OK, I take my seat and wait 45 minutes to see someone. The same service person calls me up and says what is my issue, I explain the issue, as already identified in web appointment sign up, she says, oh, we can’t do anything we have to send it in. I’m like, what? You could have told me that when I checked in. I could send it in myself. She says and I quote “well I’m a little busy here”. And I said, “well you just wasted 45 minutes of my time, and what about all the other people, isn’t their time important?, and I don’t think I’ll be back”. And she said “good, I doubt you’ll be back and hope you don’t.” Now I’m pretty easy going, and tip service people well, but this is too much. Best Buy has lost a customer for life. Management needs to address.
