We took our Lab in for his annual heartworm checkup. Shortly after we ordered his heartworm medicine from chewy.com. Another week passed and I checked on the status of our order and chewy said they had never received his prescription from Vca. We called Vca to ask why it hasn't been authorized and they assured me that it had been approved. 2 weeks later chewy cancelled the order because they still haven't received the prescription. We then ordered his medicine from bandana rx and called Vca to ask if they could make sure they sent the prescription right away. Another week passed I called bandana to see what the delay was and they said that they never received the prescription. The next day Vca called us and asked which one should they authorize chewy or bandana. The chewy request was now over 1 month old and had already been cancelled by chewy because it was never authorized. Bottom line, we will be going to another vet from now on.

Very good care and csring but be forewarned it is expensive! You essentially pre pay on a monthly basis for ongoing care. At the end of my contract, I can’t afford renewal and will opt for pet insurance!

Very frustrating experience. I brought my dog in specifically to discuss grooming for a very anxious dog. He’s a rescue I adopted about 6 months ago and was told at the time that he was up to date on all vaccinations (rabies, bordetella, influenza, etc.). I was told they could work with him one-on-one and followed all instructions, including giving him medication ahead of time. They also gave me a list of services and vaccinations, but those were presented as recommendations—nothing in the paperwork said they were required before grooming. When I showed up for the appointment, there was confusion about my visit, and then I was told—for the first time—that I’d need to pay over $500 for additional shots before they would even do a simple grooming. If that had been clearly explained from the beginning, I wouldn’t have wasted time, stressed my dog, or come back. Really disappointing communication and a very frustrating experience overall.

Not transparent about pricing! Every time I visited this vet for my very healthy dog, there were more vaccines and more exam charges. $90 for the vet to check my dogs teeth & weigh her, every time we visited. We were scheduled for so many appointments because they insisted that she needed boosters?? She's 4 years old, I have never heard of an adult dogs needing so many shots. I called to confirm the remaining shots and they weren't sure if she had already had her rabies vaccine or not. very unorganized. I asked for a detailed list of vaccines and charges at the appointment twice and on the phone. I never received any of it. Very sketchy. If your dog is healthy, and youre the type of owner that only wants your dog to have the basic required shots, this is not the vet for you. (Unpopular opinion: there is no need for a healthy dog to have a flu shot.) They obviously had the goal of getting as much money as possible out of me. Receptionists were nice, but this is a vet with a bad business model.
