  Response to Manager’s comments: I’m not stepping back in your building and neither is my family, You guys cost 1 of our cats lives because of your failures to report any potential problems from earlier this year when we visited which is why another Animal Hospital which when we provided the paperwork on him during his sudden health decline from their recent checkup with you guys said there were red flags and y’all failed to let us know so we could keep him alive. We will not be coming back and I hope more people do the same. If 0 Stars was an option, I would’ve put it down as 0 stars. Anyone that lives close to this place or continues to go here for Pet Health, Don’t ever go here anymore or ever go here. They don’t take care of your pets health issues or are proactive. One of the cats I live with ended up going to an Animal Hospital recently because they failed to report something developing in his checkup months ago. Ever since the new doctor and new employees came in which also explains the reviews before the one I’ve made are not lies, It’s just awful here now. Absolutely terrible place and more expensive now which has driven away longtime customers and their pets. Will be going somewhere else now in the future. There are better options in the Jacksonville area now.

  Foot issue, nail trim and basic check up. Very knowledgeable doctor. Awaiting estimate on foot pad repair.

  I adopted a cat from VCA Loretto many years ago. The cat cannot live without a prescription of Cisapride (which they prescribed him initially and have prescribed it until now). My cat was seen in the office in February, May and they promised me they would provide his prescription medication at both visits. I shouldn't have to pay $300 every other month for a refill. So, I have an appointment Friday, August 14th @ 8:00 AM for the same medication that should've been prescribed in February & May. They don't care if my cat dies, I have to bring him into the office and pay for an office visit for the prescription!!!

  This would be a negative if possible. Our dog was a patient there for 10 years, most of which was a positive experience. This last week, with 2 visits where she obviously had something going on is the reason for the less than stellar rating. On Friday 7/3 we took our senior dog in after noticing some unsteadiness and her bumping into furniture. Dr. Martin and team, drew blood and at my request, because she had arthritis administered a Librela injection. On Monday, 7/6 she seemed not to be doing any better, so I took her back in and dropped off a urine sample. We discussed the possibility of a neurological episode, but at no time did Dr. Martin advise me to take her to an emergency vet. In fact, the advice I was given was to wait until the results of the urinalysis came back. It was supposed to take 24 hours. I called on Tuesday afternoon, multiple times on Wednesday as well as messaging. I was given conflicting information 1) that it was in and needed to be reviewed 2) It wasn't in 3) It was in but Dr. Martin was in surgery. On Thursday the system for VCA (messaging and the app) were down and once I was able to get through I was told Dr. Martin was off that day. On Friday (7/10) morning I finally was sent a text by Dr. Martin...this after a very tense call with the front desk. The urinalysis was clean. No other information. By now, my pup is having labored breathing and is unable to stand. Still no advice to seek emergency care for her. I was told to take her to see a neurologist, whose 1st appointment was not until 7/14. We ended up at Ecovets emergency department (who were absolutely wonderful by the way) and after 6 agonizing hours, the decision was made to let our girl go. She had fluid in her lungs that appeared to be from a ruptured tumor. I notified VCA of her passing on 7/11 and while the message from Shelby at the front desk was sweet, I've heard nothing from Dr. Martin. While nothing could have prevented the ultimate outcome, I am heartbroken that our sweet girl's last days were spent in pain and that we were not able to prepare ourselves for letting her go. I absolutely would not recommend Dr. Martin to treat anyone's beloved fur baby.
