I had to leave a review due to a recent experience i had with this clinic. We just rescued an eleven year old Yorkie mix who had been mistreated for 2 years with owners who did not care for the dog. We brought her to the clinic to find her to have an enlarged heart and an issue with retaining water. We were instructed to put her on 2 different medications to address her issues. I work for Chewy and advised the clinic I would be going through my work for both medications. Unfortunately there was a delay and I would not be getting my medications as quickly as needed and was forced to go back to the clinic to obtain enough meds to tide me over til my chewy order arrives. Im not criticizing the care my pet received as the vet and all the techs were fantastic. What i could not believe was that the clinic charged me seven dollars each pill which I could purchase for 0.22 cents and 0.82 cents each through chewy. Really, $96.00 for a 7 day supply of furosemide and pimobendan. That is simply ridiculous. Price gouging for our furry family members. You should be ashamed.

We can’t say enough good things about VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital The operative word is hospital. This is a 24/7/365 full service facility with in-house lab and pharmacy as well as exam rooms, hospital and boarding. The thing that sets this place apart, though, is the people: Dr. Kevin Ramirez, the super competent ER doctor who clearly loves his work and is bringing our elderly cat back from a large abscessed wound. Dr. Jodi Heim, who has a background in microbiology, and used some out-of-the-box thinking to pull another one of our cats back to the living when she had one foot in the grave. Dr. Ruiz, yet another knowledgeable, enthusiastic doctor Keith, at the front desk, who is always very cordial. Lea, the vet tech, who is super knowledgeable about cats and their meds Savannah, the vet tech, who also loves her work and is about to start veterinary school. And, of course, everybody else—all super nice, right down to doling out birthday treats for your pet! Thank you all!!

This emergency hospital is all about money. I went to bring a critically ill kitten there to see if it could be saved. After being told it would be $220 for it be seen, I was told that it would be $800 to try to stabilize it. Although I thought $800 was very expensive, I agreed to the charge. I was later told that the kitten was not stabilizing and he stopped breathing. Dr. Ramirez at this point said that he would not recommmend CPR, which I did not agree with. I requested they do CPR because when you are trying to save a pet, I believe that all measures should be tried. He then said that he was not responding and they would try two more rounds and then stop CPR if he still didn’t respond. This felt very rushed to be quite honest, but we were already at the facility so I agreed. The doctor came back about six minutes later and said he passed. He left the room and didn’t even have to decency to say that he wanted to charge me an additional $122 for CPR and a shot that I didn’t agree to. He had an assistant come and tell me about these additional charges. When I informed the front desk representative that I didn’t agree to this shot, he had the front desk representative tell me that he can take off the shot, but would be adding additional charges for procedures done during CPR. So essentially they strong armed me into paying the additional $122 when I believe $800 is more than a fair payment for the services rendered. I definitely will never come back to this hospital for any type of treatment for any pets. Some vets care about pets and some vets only care about money. They really only care about money and when they do, they will charge the most for the least amount of work done. I definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere if you want a vet that cares more about pet treatment than money.

I want to start off by saying I don’t usually leave reviews like this but this left a really bad taste in my mouth. Ive been a client with this animal hospital for over 10 years and spent well over $20,000 here. I have referred all of my family and friends and I have come to the sad realization that this place no longer cares for pets the way it used to and is motivated by money and only money. My dog needed surgery and when I took her in and it her checked out they informed me that it would be a $7000 surgery I asked if I purchase the care club would that make a difference on the cost of the surgery. They informed me that it would not change the cost whatsoever which is fine. They informed me that the payment would cover everything pre operation and post operation. I went ahead and signed my dog up for the care club regardless so that I can hopefully lower some future expenses (non surgery related at a future date). After the surgery we were receiving conflicting information depending on who we spoke with. Examples of this is one person would tell us my dog needed stitching removed in the future and another tech would say that no the stitches would dissolve on their own. I had to chase doctors to get the correct information because everyone was telling me something different. The doctor that preformed the surgery ended up leaving the company a few weeks after surgery. And this only got worse, no one called for her post operation X-rays we had to call and ask why no one was following up after we had payed in full? We essentially had to call and tell them what to schedule because they essentially stopped calling or following up completely. With all of this happening I still stayed with them. I called them a few days ago to remove the care club as I had already paid $600 and got absolutely 0 value from it and was looking to save a little money. They told me that if I wanted to cancel it would be $1100 because services were used for the surgery. This is completely false and after speaking to the manager and a few others and getting attitude I informed them they can keep it active until the 1 year contract is over and I am taking my pets elsewhere. No one tried to do anything to fix the issue. Now I’m being scammed out of $100 for the next 6 months but if that’s the cost of having to split away from this very shady establishment so be it. Disappointed and I urge everyone to find a local mom and pop operation. This place has become a cash hungry establishment where nothing matters but money.

My appointment was at 6 PM, and I was asked to arrive 30 minutes early — which I did. I was taken to the exam room on time, then waited nearly 40 minutes before anyone showed up. After I complained, an assistant came in briefly for paperwork. It then took another 25–30 minutes for the doctor to arrive. The doctor examined my cat, used a Wood’s lamp, and diagnosed a fungal skin infection. After she left, I waited another 30 minutes just to get a treatment plan. I initially declined from the list dermatology and blood tests due to the cost, then changed my mind, agreed on dermatology test to figue out the exact infection and informed the receptionist. That led to almost another hour of waiting. I was literally about to walk out when the doctor finally came back to perform the test. It has now been over a week since the test, and no one has contacted me — no follow-up at all. Bottom line: extremely disorganized clinic with no respect for clients’ time. It feels like once you’re there, they assume you’ll just keep waiting no matter how long it takes. I will not be coming back.\ I didn’t name the doctor because it’s not about one person — the whole system runs the same way starting from receptionist.
