I am a research scientist and have come to appreciate the functionality Apple devices afford my research and the success of campaigns that rely on the technology. However, I need to share my recent experience.
I dropped off my MacBookPro (M2, 64GB memory, 1TB) a few weeks ago at the @apple Store (#applecarnegielibrary, DC) and it was assessed that my logic board needed replacing. After a few weeks progressed, I received a cryptic voicemail and multiple emails stating my device was ready to pick up. Upon returning to the store, I was informed my device “was not serviced, two technicians opened my device, discovered all four liquid contact indicators were tampered with and removed, and refused to replace anything”. I was essentially accused of tampering with my $4K+ device, suggested I purchased the device second-hand (I have the receipt from 2021), was told I “could not receive or view any of the photographs the technicians took”, was told I “could not purchase any of the hardware needed to do the repair” myself, and that in their opinion, my “best option was to purchase a new device”.
As a 15-year Apple customer, I am genuinely appalled by this behavior and will continue to expose this clear violation until my concerns are addressed and other customers are listened to and treated with respect instead of malice. Until then, I will continue to share my experience with everyone and encourage those looking to make the transition to tread lightly: this company doesn’t care about you after that payment method is executed. They’re predatory. Period. All it cares about is watching the bottom line. Educate yourself, listen to others, and consider other product lines with more transparency and respect.

NOTE TO STORE MANAGEMENT: This 1-star review is specifically for Apple’s Corporate Support and insurance pipeline, but your retail listing is the only public platform consumers have to voice these systemic issues.
UPDATE (June 24th): Still stranded, zero accountability, and told to "just keep waiting."
I am updating my review because Apple’s support has gone from unacceptable to outright ridiculous. Today is June 24th. It has now been 22 days—more than three full weeks—since Apple officially emailed me on June 2nd promising that my replacement phone (Case ID 102904850930) would ship with tracking in "1–2 business days."
I just hung up the phone with Apple Support again, hoping for a real update or an escalation. Instead, I was brushed off yet again and told that I just need to "keep waiting." No timeline, no explanation, and zero accountability.
This is an emergency insurance claim. I pay for this service specifically so I won't be left stranded without a phone, yet Apple has completely abandoned their explicit service promise. Being told to "just wait" after nearly a month of silence is insulting. If you expect this company to honor their timelines or care about their customers when a device is lost, look elsewhere. Absolute failure of customer service.

I’ve visited Apple Stores all over the United States and in several countries around the world, and I can honestly say that Apple Carnegie Library may be the most impressive Apple Store I’ve ever seen.
The way Apple preserved the historic character of the Carnegie Library while transforming it into a modern retail store and educational space is nothing short of remarkable. The architecture, restoration work, and attention to detail make this feel more like a museum than a store. In many ways, it’s both.
What impressed me most was how seamlessly history and technology coexist under one roof. You can admire the craftsmanship of a historic Washington landmark while learning about some of the most advanced technology available today.
During my visit, I attended a class on shooting cinematic video with an iPhone. The session was engaging, informative, and well presented. The instructors were knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly passionate about helping people get more out of their devices. I walked away with techniques that I’ll actually use in my photography and video work.
Whether you’re an Apple customer or not, this building is worth visiting simply to appreciate the restoration and architecture. If you are an Apple enthusiast, it’s an absolute must-see.
Five stars. Most Apple Stores make me want to buy a new device. This one made me want to buy a new device, take a class, study architecture, and spend the afternoon wandering around admiring the building. That’s a pretty impressive accomplishment.
I had a disappointing experience at this Apple Store.
I waited a significant amount of time for assistance, and while the employee helping me was polite, the overall service felt disorganized. During the troubleshooting process, the technician repeatedly left to assist other customers before fully addressing my issues. I understand that staff need to manage multiple customers, but constantly switching between appointments made the experience feel rushed and incomplete.
What was most frustrating was the diagnosis itself. After examining my Apple Watch, I was told that the device would need to be replaced because it could not be repaired. However, after returning home and continuing to troubleshoot on my own, I was able to get the watch working again without replacing it.
This left me questioning the accuracy of the diagnosis and whether enough effort was made to fully investigate the issue before recommending an expensive replacement.
I have always appreciated Apple’s products and customer service, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I hope the store can improve appointment management and provide more thorough troubleshooting before recommending device replacement.
I cannot speak highly enough about the service I received at this store. All the workers were so kind and attentive and helpful. You can tell when someone is overly thankful for your patience that they experience a lot of abuse from the general public pretty regularly. This can be a thankless job but I thank everyone here. They didn’t do any insane task or save my life or anything, they were simply so kind and helpful that I just have to point that out anyway. Getting work done on devices takes time!! I encourage anyone who comes here to leave a bad review about the time it took takes a step back and considers that some services simply take time, and to be more grateful for the wonderful people that work here.
