Switched to this vca since the one in my town closed. Have been here 2x. Everyone has been lovely. You can tell they care about the animals. Signed up for the care club plan and it was the best thing I've ever done. Would recommend this place for your fur babies.

I’ve waited a bit to post this to ensure I wasn’t coming off entirely reactive and upset. Our beloved dog was going here for years. She was having some health issues that came up, and she was in and out with ultrasounds, bloodwork, you name it. Her white blood cells were elevated so they chalked it all up to a UTI, yet her symptoms persisted. Suddenly one evening she collapsed out of nowhere. We rushed her to the ER in Newtown to learn she had cancer, was internally bleeding, and needed to be put down the same night. She was only 9. How could they miss cancer with all the weeks and months of bloodwork and ultrasounds? The cancer was so far along and widespread onto several organs that she couldn’t be saved. We spent thousands at VCA. They are a private equity vet owned by Mars so they care more about the money than the pets. That was made obvious when they did not follow up a single time after we called the front desk to inform them she died. They couldn’t be bothered to send a card or have the vet call to share their condolences. Not even a text to say “sorry for your loss” after treating her as a patient for years. Meanwhile Newtown Animal Hospital sent a card and they didn’t even know her. A few weeks after she died VCA called me, and I thought “oh wow they’re finally calling to check in.” Nope, they were calling to try to get our other pet in for vaccines. We switched vets right there on the spot. My soul dog is dead because of their negligence. Please if you love your pets take them elsewhere.

I used to love this practice, but unfortunately my recent experiences have been very disappointing. Communication has declined significantly. Test results and treatment recommendations are rarely explained by the veterinarian, and I’ve repeatedly had to ask for callbacks or copies of results instead of being proactively informed.
I’ve also been asked to make decisions about procedures without first having the opportunity to speak directly with the veterinarian about the findings, risks, or reasoning behind the recommendation. As a pet owner, it’s difficult to make informed decisions without that conversation.
While the care is expensive, what has been most frustrating is the lack of communication, empathy, and guidance during an already stressful time. Pets are family, not just appointments on a schedule. I hope the practice can improve its communication so owners feel supported and informed throughout their pet’s care. DO NOT RECOMMEND
