  I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Roche and the compassion she showed my husband and I during one of the most heartbreaking nights of our lives. Last night, we had to make the devastating decision to say goodbye to our girlie Ruby, after learning that she was suffering from a rapidly progressing brain tumor. It was a decision no pet owner ever wants to face, but Dr. Roche's kindness, honesty, and reassurance helped bring us peace during an incredibly painful moment. She took the time to listen, explain everything, and reassure us that we were making the right decision for Ruby. Having her support and knowing she agreed that it was time to let Ruby go made an unbearable decision just a little easier. The compassion she showed throughout the entire process was truly beyond words. She treated Ruby with such gentleness, dignity, and love, while also making sure we felt supported and never rushed during our final moments with her. There are veterinarians who care for animals, and then there are extraordinary people like Dr. Roche who also care for the hearts of the families who love their pets. We will forever be grateful that she was the one who helped our beautiful girl cross the Rainbow Bridge. While nothing could have made saying goodbye easy, Dr Roche gave us comfort and peace when we needed it most. Thank you, Dr. Roche, for making Ruby's final moments so peaceful and for treating her as though she were your own. We will never forget your kindness.

  I wish I could give 0 stars. This hospital, I believe, is the reason we lost our cat. We brought him in on September 2nd for peeing blood... after ONLY an exam, no testing to even be sure, they told us he was probably stressed and sent us home with pain meds. We took him to another hospital last night. Last night we had to euthanize him because his kidney values were too high for the machine to even read and he was already passing away. Not to mention that VCA shoreline got all my info wrong when I went. The negligence of this facility caused me to lose my precious baby at only 6 years old. We are considering possible legal action for this, but nothing will ever replace our boy. Listen to the reviews.

  I had an overall positive experience at VCA Animal Hospital in Shelton. The hospital is very nice, clean, and well organized. From the front desk staff to the nurses and veterinary team, everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and great with my dog. You can tell the staff genuinely care about the animals they are treating, and I really appreciated how well they worked with him. My only major criticism is the cost. VCA is extremely expensive, and I can see how the prices could make it very difficult for families whose pets have serious or ongoing health issues to afford care. Just the evaluation alone was over $200. After the exam, a shot, and some drops, I walked out with a bill of $436. That was definitely a shock. I understand that quality veterinary care is expensive, but these prices are a lot, especially during difficult economic times. I wish there were more affordable options or pricing available because pet owners shouldn't have to feel that getting their animal the care they need is financially out of reach. Cost aside, however, I had a great experience. The facility was excellent, the staff were wonderful, and most importantly, my dog was treated with kindness and care. I would absolutely give the team itself high marks — I just wish the cost of care was more manageable.

  We had an exceptional experience with Dr. Benjamin Kerns during what was a stressful emergency visit with a puppy. From the moment Dr. Kerns followed up with us after the initial evaluation we were incredibly impressed. He communicated clearly and thoughtfully about what the symptoms could potentially indicate, explaining the possibilities in a way that was easy for us to understand. Dr. Kerns showed an exceptional level of thoroughness, compassion and calm.Ultimately the condition Dr. Kerns suspected was confirmed by radiographs, which further reinforced our confidence in him. We could not recommend Dr. Kerns more highly.

  Very Disappointing Experience With VCA Shelton If I could I would give 0 stars…. We had a very disappointing experience with VCA Shelton during one of the most stressful situations we’ve ever experienced with our dog. On July 27, we brought our French Bulldog to their ER after he suddenly began having trouble walking due to IVDD. Within the few hours we were there, he lost the use of his back legs. More than a month later, he is still unable to walk. Unfortunately, we did not feel much compassion or support during our visit. Surgery, which was quoted around $15,000, seemed to be the primary option discussed. We were given gabapentin, but very little information about conservative treatment. I had to do my own research and actually ask about prednisone and trying a conservative approach. We also asked for follow-up care after our visit and were told someone would get back to us. They never did, leaving us with no choice but to find another veterinarian. Today, our dog is still experiencing pain and is scheduled to see a neurologist tomorrow. He ran out of his medication, so we called VCA asking for a refill just to keep him comfortable until his appointment the following day. We explained the situation, but they refused without seeing him. When we explained that he was already seeing a neurologist the next day, the response was simply, “I’m sorry for your frustration.” I understand that veterinary care is expensive, but throughout this experience we felt like the focus was more on the financial side than on helping our dog. We were looking for compassion, guidance, and all reasonable treatment options. We ultimately had to find another veterinarian, and unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not recommend VCA Shelton.
