I had a deeply frustrating experience with Dr. Pierce. My dog was on a dosage that was working. Dr. Pierce lowered it, saw issues, then raised it again. After following his instructions, I was left without medication. When I requested more, he became defensive, contradicted himself, and ultimately refused to continue care and discontinued me and my doggy as a client. This left me in a heartbreaking position, I have to put my dog down due to the situation he’s currently in now due to no meds, he can’t walk and he’s a big dog, Dr Pierce was my last option I had because my dog was still able to walk when we met. I feel the communication and consistency were lacking, and I wouldn’t recommend this hospital with him still working here.

I had taken my animals to VCA for years and was part of the Care Club for most of it. There was a miscommunication with my dogs treatment and the customer service during the situation was incredibly unprofessional. The staff did not note my pets health updates, staff spoke to us rudely over the phone and the vet implied we did not care about our dog. Unfortunately, this experience has pushed me away from this hospital.

We brought our dog to this emergency vet the same night after a spay surgery when she suddenly began having seizures. She was treated with anti-seizure medication, and after receiving it, the seizures appeared to stop while we were there.
During our visit, we were told the seizures most likely were unrelated to the spay and that our dog may have seizures for the rest of her life. We were presented with a roughly $7,000 option for 24-hour hospitalization and monitoring or euthanasia for approximately $700. Because hospitalization was financially out of reach, we asked whether there were any alternatives, including taking medication home and monitoring her while seeking follow-up care. We were strongly advised against this and told we would be going against medical advice.
What was difficult for us was receiving information that felt inconsistent. We were told our dog was barely breathing on her own, required oxygen, and was unlikely to survive the night. Later, a staff member informed us that our dog was awake, alert, and looking around. That left us confused about her condition and prognosis.
We chose to take our dog home with medication and seek additional veterinary opinions. Thankfully, several days later, she has not experienced another seizure.
We understand emergency medicine often involves worst-case planning and difficult conversations. However, we left feeling overwhelmed and wishing there had been clearer communication, more discussion of options, and greater compassion during a very frightening situation.
