  Dr. McDooling and VCA OCVS saved our dog’s life! After being misdiagnosed by two different veterinarians at other clinics, our dog was hospitalized at OCVS for nearly two weeks. Dr. McDooling accurately diagnosed the TCC cancer, clearly laid out the pros and cons of every medical option, and went above and beyond by advocating for our dog and coordinating immediate treatment with an oncologist at the neighboring cancer hospital. We had previously lost all hope and scheduled an in-home euthanasia. Miraculously, by the morning we picked our dog up from OCVS, the treatments began to work, and our dog got an extension of life. After being discharged, our dog continued cancer treatments with the oncologist and is doing well. Throughout this emotional ordeal, Dr. McDooling remained incredibly professional and kind, guiding and educating us without pressure so we could make the best decision for our family. The entire staff was respectful, patient, and genuinely rooting for our dog's recovery. Even though we live an hour and a half away, the exceptional care at VCA OCVS makes the drive completely worth it. We can't thank you enough!

  I had such a great experience with VCA Animal Hospital. I rushed in last night because my cat had thrown up and suddenly started drooling, and I was so worried that I came in without even bringing a carrier. From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly sweet, kind, and understanding. They checked my baby’s vitals and made sure he was stable, and even though they were extremely busy, they still took the time to reassure me. What really meant so much to me was that they provided me with a carrier so I could safely take my baby home. On top of that, I wasn’t charged for the visit, which I truly appreciated. Great service for an obsessive animal lady who worries about her babies over everything! 😂❤️🐾 Thank you so much to the VCA team for treating both me and my baby with so much care and compassion. I truly appreciate you all!

  Ive had to bring my dog here twice now for various trouble he’s gotten himself into. And i have really appreciated the care that was provided. Everyone was friendly and doctors and vet techs very professional and took good care of my dog. Did not take too long either. Thank you!

  it’s such an awful place. They suggested euthanizing my youngish dog because he had anal gland issues and they couldn’t figure out how to help him. $15,000 later and he was sent home twice to me shrieking in pain. I had to keep bringing him back. I saw a different vet each time. I kept saying it’s his anal glands and they said it was his”back.” huh? Finally before I was going to put him down I took him to Rise Medical where they actually listened to me and did an MRI where it was discovered (wow) that his anal glands were infected and they cured it up. My dog went on to be fine 4 yrs later! VCA only cares about money. And good luck talking to Corporate. They refused to discuss what happened. Beware

  I would not recommend this vet. I feel like they take advantage of people in panic by charging you even before service is performed. They charged me $1500 as I walked in the door, they said it was a standard charge to administer emergency services. I was too much in a panic to fight it and just paid. I only came to this spot because it was the closest to my house and my dog was in chronic condition (sudden collapse and white/grey gums). And in that moment I would have paid anything to save him and I think they knew that and exploited it. My dog has recovered but they basically charged me $1500 to run a couple simple tests and administer fluids. They did NOT find the cause of what happened. The vet also told me he had a tumor when I asked about a strange mass he had on his shoulder when they gave him back, I told her it wasn’t there before and asked her to check if they gave him fluids there and she came back said “oh yeah I guess they started to give him the fluid injection before realizing I had asked for iv fluids.” So not only did she tell me he had a tumor but the vet techs did the wrong thing and gave him fluids in two ways. And then when I was checking out they were going to check me out for the wrong dog, luckily I caught it but it just seemed very unprofessional. Specially when they only had 2 or 3 other dogs listed on the whiteboard. So they weren’t that busy. All that being said, I did appreciate that the vet came in and gave me updates pretty regularly and quickly (within 15 mins of getting there they told me he was stable and having tests done). I’ve been at ERs before where it was hours before they’d come with an update which felt like torture. So that was one nice thing. But definitely felt like they were just trying to get as much money out of me as possible. Update: three weeks later my dog had a similar episode and I took him to a different ER. They did a $70 fast ultrasound right away and found the cause within 30 mins. He had a tumor on his spleen that was bleeding internally. I guess the first time he recovered because it clotted but the second time he was in critical condition and had to be rushed into surgery. Every vet and AI I’ve talked to has said that the ER should have known to perform a fast ultrasound. However, OCVS didn’t do that and instead charged me $1500 for nothing and didn’t catch a life threatening issue.
