"5/5 Woofs! š¾My name is Frankie, and I just had to bark about my experience with Dr. Mark Dosch. To be honest, I was super scared when I first walked into VCSAāitās a big place and I didn't know what was happening! But Dr. Dosch is such an amazing person. He has this calm energy that made my tail want to wag even when I was nervous. My surgery went so great! He even looked out for my brother, Lincoln, too š. If youāre a pup who needs a specialist in Santa Rosa, Dr. Dosch is the best human for the job. Thanks for taking such good care of us!"

I had a great experience with the VCA Staff yesterday! Stacy greeted me and did our intake, Charlene did my catās triage and kept me updated, another receptionist allowed me to borrow a charger for my iPad when my phone wasnāt working. They had a drink machine for a warm, calming drink while you wait and strong WiFi as well. The whole office was very clean and nice with large waiting room areas with separate sections for distance and privacy from other anxiously waiting pet parents. Dr. Angus saw my cat and spoke with me directly. She wasnāt rushing to get me through, she asked helpful questions and answered all of mine. My cat, Baxter, is doing much better now and I just so appreciate all the staff who helped us feel cared for and welcomed.

I hesitated about whether to leave a review but then I got an email asking for it. My experience was appalling and I will never recommend this place to anyone. It was the opposite of what should be the standard for pet emergency services. I first called to make sure my dog could be seen. I asked if there was a vet onsite and was told yes but that there would be a long wait. Then I arrived around 6:30a and wondered why the long wait as there was no one in the waiting room and the parking lot was almost empty. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I was requesting emergency care and told me in a very unfriendly and sarcastic manner, not even looking up at me, "It will be a minute. They're doing a euthanasia." When I asked if there was a vet onsite she said yes. And yet I saw and heard no activity. She gave me paperwork to fill out (it did not ask about history, just name, contact info, etc) but she did not ask why I was even there and just told me to have a seat. My dog was having acute hemorrhagic diarrhea, which is a medical emergency with a high mortality rate if not treated in time. I sat and watched another receptionist arrive. She took some calls and I heard her say the doctors would be in at 8:30a, which contradicted what the other receptionist told me. At this point, I wasn't getting a good feeling and questioning whether I should even stay. I googled for other pet emergency services and found Truvet in Petaluma which, per the reviews, sounded like a true emergency center with vets onsite. So I left VCA and had my pet treated at Truvet in a timely manner, with compassion and kindness, and with excellent and clear communication throughout the process. When someone brings their very sick pet to get emergency care, they are at their most vulnerable, worried and anxious about whether their pet will make it through. They should not have to endure the horrendous customer service and utter lack of safe and competent clinical attention that I encountered. Based on my experience and as a physician, I believe this site to be operating in a manner that is potentially hazardous to the animals in its care. I do not believe this facility meets the basic standards of safe care for an emergency veterinary service.

Iāve read many reviews and have read plenty of the bad ones. I canāt speak for them as anytime it comes to our pets and emergencies emotions are high and costs can get expensive quickly. Personally Iāve been to this vet for 3 different situations. Once about 12yrs ago when I discovered a lump under both armpits of my dog and noticed he was acting off and suspected lymphoma. Unfortunately it was lymphoma but they were very compassionate with his diagnosis and very honest about chemo treatments and the costs. Luckily we had pet insurance, however the insurance company was trying to not cover it claiming it was a pre-existing condition and our vet and the team went above and beyond to argue against the claim and we ended up getting coverage. All of his chemo treatments went smoothly and my dog Whiskey always was in a great mood after. He went into remission for 3yrs before it came back after we moved back to Texas. He lived 2 more years until the cancer just stopped responding. This clinic was always wonderful to deal with though. Second time was a family friend was visiting and we caught her dog eating rat poison in the feed room at our horse stables. We immediately induced vomiting with peroxide then rushed her here. We were seen promptly and the staff once again was very kind and understanding. My friends dog stayed one night to be monitored and treated with fluids and vitamin K and was sent home the next day with at home treatments and pulled through just fine. The third time was last night, well technically 1:30am on Saturday. Our Australian Shepherd had gotten into the trash that morning and we caught her eating a few buffalo chicken wing bones from the day prior. She seemed fine until dinner time and was eating slower than usual. By 11pm she had very bad diarrhea and continued to have it till midnight where it then turned bloody. Around 1am she started projectile vomiting and didnāt want to move unless we forced her. We rushed her in without warning and arrived around 1:30am. The front desk/tech greeted us immediately and was very kind and listened to all that happened. We voiced concerns that the bones may of caused a bowel obstruction or perforation and she immediately relayed that to the vet. The vet was very friendly and immediately began taking vitals, and doing abdominal X-rays under light sedation. Luckily there was no obstruction or perforation and they could see the bones were already starting to pass. Our dog Pinot was given IV fluids, antibiotics for an inflamed GI and anti nausea meds. We were told to call or come back if anything changed and if she started to take a turn for the worst. So far sheās doing good and has been acting much more like herself and even ate her dinner of rice and turkey. The bill was not cheap but it was what I would expect for an emergency visit with abdominal imaging. Iāve had hefty vet bills in Texas too for emergencies so I guess I just know what to expect. Thanks again and we appreciate yāallās care over the years.
