  Great veterinarians, but poor front office communication, convoluted pricing policies, and an adversarial interaction with the office manager. I’ve been a client at VCA Santa Cruz for nearly 20 years with four different pets, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I scheduled an appointment primarily to get a Bravecto refill for my dog Clover. During scheduling, I specifically explained that I was also interested in the leptospirosis vaccine, but wanted to handle everything in the most cost-effective way possible because I knew VCA has historically offered half-off vaccine days. Unfortunately, from scheduling through checkout, I received inconsistent and confusing information from multiple staff members about vaccine pricing, booster requirements, tech visits vs. vet visits, and what appointments would actually be required. I had to repeatedly ask for clarification, and even then the explanations changed depending on who I spoke with. What frustrated me most was not the pricing itself, but the lack of transparency and clear communication. By the end of the interaction, I felt like I was being treated as difficult simply for trying to understand the costs and options before agreeing to treatment. My interaction with the office manager, Amanda, in particular felt unnecessarily adversarial and dismissive. To be fair, we really appreciate Dr. Maggio there. But after almost 20 years as a client, the overall experience felt surprisingly disorganized and unfriendly. I did some comparison and VCA Santa Cruz is about 20-35% higher in price for the office visit, tech visit, and vaccine we needed.

  Best experience. Dr Berry was great with my elderly dog. The clinic is great since under new management. I highly recommend.

  Horrible service and way overpriced. Took me 1 1/2 hours and $600 dollars to get my dog treated for a hot spot on his back. Left my senior dog sitting on the hard floor while it took them a 1/2 hour to fill my antibiotics prescription. Reception was rude when I asked how much longer it would take. They spent twenty minutes trying to upsell me a bunch of meds i did not need . Will never go back to VCA and been taking my dog there since he was a pup.
