  This place is extremely money hungry, they tell you one thing then they do the complete opposite. I have written proof of your vet telling me my dog can get flea medicine with no prescription. (She also was given a first dose without it) BUT NOW she needs heart worm medication when it was not needed before. I have not been back to this place since and I will no longer be returning to them. My dog needs her flea medication and I can’t sit here and deal with a money grab for me to get it. UNPROFESSIONAL

  I had booked an appointment for Monday, but they called and got my kitty in quick when they had availabilty which was amazing. They have separate entrances for cats and dogs. They were so sweet and gentle with my cat, giving her lovings and making sure she wasn't scared. They are transparent with prices and thorough gathering informations. 10/10 for me!

  Went for first visit today. Staff very friendly. Vet was wonderful. So happy to find out that if my dog gets sick, she will be able to be seen the same day! Last vet on Cottle had one appointment available a day for a sick dog. If you were not the first client to call in at 7am for that appointment you had to go to Sage or MedVet. I left very happy!

  We truly cannot say enough good things about the team at VCA San Martin Animal Hospital. Our family has trusted them with our pets for years, and we consistently receive the most caring, compassionate, and comprehensive service imaginable. They have been there for us during some of the hardest moments—helping us say goodbye to a few of our beloved dogs with such dignity, empathy, and genuine love. The way they support families during those times goes far beyond what you would ever expect. It means everything. Most recently, Dr. Shirk quite literally saved one of our dogs’ lives. She identified a very rare condition where timing was critical—something that could have easily been overlooked. Her expertise, attention to detail, and decisive action made all the difference, and we are forever grateful. The entire front staff is truly world-class—kind, responsive, and always making us feel welcome and cared for. Every interaction reinforces that we’re not just clients—we’re family. This team goes above and beyond in every possible way. We feel incredibly lucky to have them caring for our pets.

  I would love to give 5 stars based off the front desk and the team on the weekdays. Unfortunately, I noticed a significant difference with the weekend team. To start, we set an appointment and it still took them roughly an hour to see us. We went for a full exam and due to how late they saw us (which was close to their closing time) it honestly felt extremely rushed. I would’ve understood it if we were a walk in, but we set up an appointment for a reason! I genuinely would’ve looked past this if it wasn’t for my most egregious concern. We were told our dog got a shot on her left side, however, when we get home, we couldn’t even lightly touch her right side without her yelping. I will admit that my boyfriend showed more concern, however, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as accusing someone of harming your pet isn’t something I’d do lightly. What prompted me to make this review was our last appointment, which was during the week and being able to see the difference really solidified my doubts about my dog’s weekend visit. We were promptly treated and there was no yelping or complaints from my dog when I touched either shoulder. As I can now compare different staff, I now am highly concerned with what happened on her weekend appointment, along with the fact that we were told that she received a shot on one side yet the other side was causing her pain and discomfort. As I stated above, the front desk team is wonderful, friendly and very informative. The veterinary assistant that assisted us on Monday was also very friendly and warm with our pet. There’s no way in hell we are ever scheduling on the weekend here again.
