DO NOT GO HERE OPERATES LIKE A DEALERSHIP I’ve had dogs my entire life, but for my wife this is her first time having one she’s truly bonded with. Naturally, we wanted the best care when our dog started having ear issues and a yeast infection. We usually go to Ace Animal Hospital in Fremont (fair pricing, no nonsense), but decided to try VCA since it’s close to home. Big mistake. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt off. There was already a situation in the lobby where staff handled a concerned older customer very poorly conflicting instructions and an overall lack of professionalism. Once we were seen, the experience didn’t improve. The vet recommended basic treatment for the ear, which made sense. But then came the upselling. A technician brought in a long list of “recommended” services including a biopsy, injections, medications, and vaccines without even having my dog’s medical history. It was clear they were testing how much we’d be willing to spend. What bothered me most: The technician directed everything toward my wife, ignoring me completely. When I questioned the need for a biopsy (after medication was already recommended), she couldn’t give a clear answer. Her attitude quickly turned rude and dismissive when I pushed back. She eventually got frustrated, tossed paperwork, and walked out. After requesting someone else, we tried to move forward with just treating the ear and infection. Even then, the process was disorganized items missing from the bill, confusion at checkout, and no accountability. When I returned the next day, the manager (Jennifer) approached with a preconceived judgment of me instead of trying to understand the situation. That says everything about how this place is run poor leadership leads to poor service. End result? A nearly $500 bill for something that should have been straightforward. This place operates more like a sales-driven business than a veterinary clinic. If you genuinely care about your pet and don’t want to feel pressured into unnecessary treatments, I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

my best suggestion to anyone is not to the care club membership. You get nothing and they make you pay $100 a month for a year. Even when you don’t need anything for them and don’t go in for months they charge you $100. Let’s see you pet has an emergency, they still want to charge you thousands of dollars to help your pet. The $100 a month is just you gifting them your hard earned bucks on nothing. SCAM. And most of the staff there is rude when you question why they want you to spend on certain services that you don’t see are necessary Oh they’ll judge you and make you feel like shit. THEYLL ASK YOU HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE TO SPEND, All of a sudden that’s exactly how much they need from you. Garbage
