I made a Genius Bar appointment for my iPhone 15 Plus, which got stuck in a boot loop after the overnight 26.4.2 update. The appointment started about 10 minutes late, which wasn’t a big deal—but the service and overall experience were.
I’ve only had the phone for 13 months, so it had just gone out of warranty. Once my appointment began, the technician ran diagnostics and told me the issue was a failed logic board. I was quoted around $500 for a repair or advised to purchase a new phone.
When I explained that I didn’t want to pursue either option because I believed the update caused the issue, the technician responded, “Well, at least you can use your phone for three minutes before it restarts.” That response came across as dismissive and unprofessional.
I asked to speak with a manager to explore other options. The manager reiterated that, since the phone was out of warranty, my only choices were to pay for the repair or replace the device. I mentioned that many users online were reporting the same issue after this update, which raised concerns for me. He maintained that Apple does not intentionally create such problems.
Frustrated with the experience, I went home and did some research. I found that this update has been causing boot loop issues that can incorrectly appear as logic board failures in diagnostics. I followed a workaround—turning off “Find My” to enable trade-in mode—and surprisingly, it resolved the issue. My phone has been working normally since.
Overall, I’m disappointed not only with the initial diagnosis but especially with the dismissive attitude I encountered. I expected more thorough troubleshooting and better customer care, especially given the circumstances.

They like to make it difficult to pick up the merchandise you have already paid for.
I had an appointment- and was there right on time.
I came in to pick up an order my boyfriend placed online- I was the designated pick up person and was told to just show my ID, and order number.
Nick insisted I get a QR code from the order just to make it to the next step referred me to apple support phone number to try to get- it took 15 min to track down said QR code just to get to the next station.
Here’s the kicker… the next person asked for my NAME or QR code!!!
It feels illegal to deny someone merchandise they’ve paid for with their name on it, they can provide you valid ID, but don’t have a QR code.
